Hi
Apologies as this is a repeat post from the general board.
How do you cope with long haired dogs weeing? Busby dribbles all over his undercoat. Is it just a case of hosing him down after every walk, or is there something obvious I should be doing, like having that area trimmed? He's a long haired border collie.

Hi ya. At the end of the evening, when they've finished going out, I thoroughly wipe them with a babywipe then comb. :) It is horrible when it dries though isn't it, and it looks awful when they roll over for a tummy tickle :P

I hose down once a day and wash underneath with baby shampoo, to get rid of the smell more than anything .  As a quick fix I use "show off" which is a non rinse shampoo.

I agree ...I shampoo the rear end or it gets smelly a quick towel down and a brush .....aahh fresh and clean again .

long coated dogs .....I'm afraid !

Thanks everyone. Poor Busby - he hates being washed, although he is a little lamb and stands ever so still for me - good job he likes the hairdryer! I'll have a look out for "Show off" and the baby wipes are a good idea. Is talc dangerous for dogs? A non-doggy friend suggested sprinkling him underneath with that to ease the combing if I need a "quick fix".

never used talc would imagine it making the wee smell worse myself.(know that some people put a bit of talc in thier hair to combat the grease as a quick fix maybe she thinking of that)

I just use a bowl with water and shampoo mixed in it pop his back legs in.... a quick swill and a towel down (if he wont keep still just put a lead on and hold it that way he cant escape)
