my bitch has come into season, as we have several male dogs she has gone to kennels, my problem now is the other dogs howling, barking etc. does anyone know of anything i can give these dogs to calm them down, my vet suggested a hormone vac. but it takes a couple of days to work by which time they`ll know shes not here anyway, i can`t leave the house incase they start creating when i`m out.

I sugest you remove the bitch earlier next time (before they get her scent)

as i was away at the time she was in kennels when i came back i got her back home she came into season the next day some 7 weeks early, she was removed that day. my message was to ask for advice for male dogs, it was impossible for me to know she was coming in season then, so as for getting her out earlier how was i to know. thanks for your comment anyway...

Moving a bitch to another territory can often have the result of bringing them into season unexpectedly. It's a method often used by breeders when a bitch that they want to breed from won't come into season. So be warned - it could happen again! It's always complicated keeping entire dogs and bitches together. Hope you're back to happy harmony again by now.

hells bells..it sounds noisey! When my bitches come in season the dogs rarely make a fuss, certainly no howling like you describe. However, some young dog hounds do go off their food for days when the girls come in season, and I find extra excercise usually takes their minds off it!

have you ever tried Bachs rescue remedy its a suggestion,I give it to my old lab who gets abit fruity sometimes and it works for him its from any good health shop and a few drops directly on the tongue or in water. they use it on horses, its good for calming down on bonfire night too or travelling
