Topic Dog Boards / General / buy to sell?....
- By countryboy [gb] Date 02.09.05 20:46 UTC
Hi there, Im currently on the lookout for a Bulldog and cant believe the prices!?!?  Do people really need to charge such prices? The way its going it would be worth investing in Bulldogs and not property!! If a breeder out there isnt thinking of pure profit and wants their puppy to go to a good loving home in the country, I have 1500 ready and waiting!!

Your topic title actually outlines the problem.  there are reputable breeders of Bulldpgs who think the price is too high, but if they sell their pups for much less they run the real risk of finidng them resolkd for the prices people are charging and paying.  Don't know what the answer to this problem is.

I think for a good bred bulldog it would be worth the money , because of all the health problems.

Yep, I appreciate that and that is why I want to buy a dog that is KC registered. Im not going to buy a dog without papers because it might be stolen or bred with a stolen dog or anything which could lead to health problems. I think even a pure bloodline with good history should still be lower in price. I was in the market a year ago but didnt buy due to moving home and the price was £1500... I also believe that people will pay for their "porsche" of the dog world and they are totally worth the money, I agree with this also, its the only breed i want. I have the £2000 in my hand but feel sickened that people are charging this price for a dog.....I say again, if you are out there and not driven by money, I have a loving home in the country that is just begging for a Red and White Bulldog.

Im glad im not the only one that think the prices are getting out of hand....

If you type Bulldogs into a search on the forum, this has been discussed many times before :)  Prices of a few other breeds are exactly the same, for a well bred Corso or AB you are probably talking the same amount of money for a puppy :)
If breeders sell their pups at a low price you can guarantee they are placed for sale on free advert sites a week later by puppy dealers.

This is all so sad. Puppy Dealers!?!?!Whatever next.

And I can guarantee if a breeder was to sell me a puppy for a 'realistic' price you wont see it in the Freeads!! Try me!

I have had a bulldog - and to be honest I for one am pleased that Bulldogs do cost as much as they do, but that's just my opinion.

You say you have £1500 now - well if you 'really' want a bulldog, and I mean really want a bulldog and all that comes with it, then surely you should understand why they cost more than £1500 and be prepared to wait a little longer until you have saved up the correct amount and not expect breeders to come down in price - this is a real live animal we are talking about and not a second hand car that you can barter on ! :(

Sadly many reputable breeders who do not want silly prices for the breed have been heartbroken to find this has happened to the pups they thought they had found genuine loving homes for, unlike in most breeds Bulldogs have a lot of resale value.

Bulldogs are expensive to breed and expensive to own - if cost is your major concern you should look elsewhere.

I have recently had my 1st litter of bulldogs after 2 years of trying,if they were easy to breed they would come down in price but they are worth every single penny and after paying never have I thought ohhhhh that dog is worth ££££££££ I always think no amount of £££££££ would buy him/her now LOL.

Save up and get the extra and get one from a breeder who will be with you in the coming years not somoeone who has taken your money and run.
