You would be far better going back to your dogs breeder and getting a puppy from the same lines.

Read the post about using your pet as a stud in the breeding forum. Do you REALLY want to be responsible for possible 8 or more puppies for their entire lifetime? You just want one, but as teh stud dogs owner you are partially (along with the bitches owner) responsible for t hose pups all their lifes, if their new owners cant keep them, can you take them back??

Its not a good idea to use a pet dog as a stud. What is his hipscore, do you know how to handle an entire male who has SUDDENLY realised what 'it' is all about, and now wants to do it with everyone he see's (and i include the sofa, cushions etc as well as other bitches).

Does he have other relevant health tests done, how well is he doing in the show ring (a good stud dog is sought after, he doesnt have to advertise!).

your boxer is to old to start siring littlers. You would need to have his health tests completed firstly but at 8 yrs old he really is too old

Hi has your boy been heart tested if so his score should be between 0&1. Not to put a damper on things but at eight yrs old he is rather old. most boxer breeders tend to use a stud dog that is known to them that will compliment their bitch and try to improve on the breed standard.
If i was you i would contact the breeder where you got your boy from and try and purchase a puppy , if they are still breeding there will be a possibility that there lines may be very similar.

You are much better off going back to his breeder for a puppy from one of his relatives, same sire, dam or his sister maybe.

In order for him to be attractive to bitch owners he would have to prove himself in the showring against the best dogs around.  He would also need to pass his health tests, which woudl be Hips scoring and heart testing (maybe eye tedting too).  These tests alone would set you bak in the regioon of £200 - £300.

You would also need to spend a lot of time reseraching his bloodslines and those of any potential mate to be sure that they would produce puppies that would be an improvemnt on their parents.

There is also the responsibility for the pups produced for theri lifetime which morally lie equally with stud and dam owner.
