Hope you dont mind me asking this as a guest but I'd lke to keep this annonymous(sp) while I get input on this.

what are the general views  on sponsoring breed classes or a full group at an open show. How would you go about it? Is it the done thing to sponsor your own breed? would this mean you couldnt enter? would it be better to eg sponsor the pastoral group if you have terriers or would it be ok to sponsor the terrier group? could you put up prizemoney for a single group or should it be for bis rbis bp group wins?do you have to be a member of the show society to sponsor the classes?

any other info that you think I would need will be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Contact the secretary & make your offer which will be put before the show committee for a decision, simple as that. You can offer to sponsor one or more classes, whether the offer s accepted is up to the show committee

I have no rel for/against feelings. It's nice to get a bit extra at shows, but wouldn't influence me to enter or not

Many shows will take donations for rosettes for breed classes and will advertise this fact and who donated in the schedules. Most trophies on offer at shows are also donated. I suppose this could be seen as sponsorship in a way, so I don't really see the difference.

I know many shows who get offers for mr and mrs goble sponsers £10 for BOB and £5 for BPIB!  That is common, have never heard of anyone sponsering a group.  Maybe thats just my area of shows!  Sponsoring of rosettes is common for class or breeds and normally is space for this on the entry form! :)

Like already said contact the secretary who can put it forward to committee, but any committee who refuses must be stupid for not excepting money! :D

There is no problem in you sponsoring the classes you go in.  YOu can always donate as anonoymous! (sp!) :)

I've sponsored my own breeds rosettes before, sponsored Best Veteran in show, sponsored the working group rosettes before and
sponsored a few other breeds before that I have never owned.
This is at a local canine society. I've entered my own breed and gone thru to the group...
I just think it's helping out the canine society with reducing their rosette costs :)

I've donated a silver plated salver in memory of my veteran Boxer to the parent club's
working day - for the runner up for Boxer racing (which Trudi won aged 9 years!! but at that time all you got was a rosette)
This is held for a year then who ever wins next get's to hold it for a year.

Some clubs in our breed get sponsorship for their champ shows in each class and the sponsor
of each class gets a mention in the catalogue.

I think it's a good idea if people wish to sponsor/donate but shouldn't be forced upon people.
