Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog Lovers adverts in Our dogs
- By Brainless [gb] Date 01.09.05 11:36 UTC
Many of your that take the Dog Papers will ahve been angry to see adverts in Our dogs for the 'Dog Lovers Registraion club'.

I had asked the committee to write in to Our Dogs (as my own communictions had been ignored) to ask them to reconsider their postion about accepting adverts from this organisation, as the main source of breed rescues were found to be registered with them, and the breeders, and sellers took no responsibility, and also we had to deal with disappointed owners when they realised that their dog was not eligible to be shown, as they thought it was the same as Kennel Club registration.

Well just had a letter from our breed club secretary.  Part of which says:
"...we have reminded 'Our Dogs', on several occasions that we were still waiting their considered response. I am pleased to say that we have now received confirmation from the paper that they are no longer accepting advertisements from this organisation."

Glad to hear that they are not accepting anymore adverts for them, but it does make me wonder why they accepted them in the first place.

Unfortunately some people have done the same in our breed giving DLRC papers to people and those poor people who were known to be wanting to do KC activities found out much to their disappointment that they couldn't!

It disgusts me that some breeders continue to con innocent pet people who believe that the papers that they are getting are the real thing.

I had been at them about it at least 18 months with no response.  As it was it has taken them several months of reminders to finally do it.

They have never been carried by dog Worls.

At first there was the occasional advert from them in Our Dogs over lst couple of years (I wrote and complained first time I saw one), but a year or so ago they were appearing monthly and then every fortnight!

I tackled their Vince Hogan aobut it at Sr Pats last year and he saw nothing wrong with carrying the adverts, despite me pointing out the fact that for one of the main mainstream canine periodicals to be advertising an organisation primarily used by commercial breedsrs and puppy farmer was giving them tacit approval.

Well done.  I'd been at them (esp. Robert Killick) for ages with no luck.

Maybe they feared reprisals as DLR were only just up the road from the OUr Dogs Office in Manchester.
