Can anybody give me suggestions? My mom's westie is resisting food and sometimes water. She has not been to the toilet for a while ( Im talking maybe once a day). Today she was sick it wasn't food but a yellow liquid which wasn't much but kinda frothy (similar to travel sickness). 2days ago she was travel sick and had another experiance at the groomers as well as having a new pup introduced to the house.
Is it stress related or could she be ill?
Please help

It sounds to me as though she's bringing up bile. This is usually because the stomach's empty - as you say she's not eating properly that tallies. If she's not taking in food she won't have anything to pass at the other end, so that makes sense - it's the underlying reason that we need to discover. When and what did she last eat?
She ate last last night - her usual Pedigree chum puppy dry complete after finishing in the morning Purina Beta puppy dry. This morning she had nothing - she just sat and watched the pup eat but would not eat nothing of her own which is strange as last mealtime she ate fine.

Have you tried feeding her in a different room to the pup?
No. The pup eats in her crate. The Westie has her own little area with a feeding mat etc and she eats there.

How long have you had the new pup? It sounds to me as if your Westie's unsure of herself, which isn't uncommon when normal routine is changed.
I got the pup 2 days ago!! Still early days I know but I feel concerned.

Hi right how often are you feeding her and how much are you feeding her?
Forget the weight if you can work it out but tell me the volume Ie as in cups or tablespoons.
The westie gets fed two times a day. Her bowl has one and a half sometimes two scoops - using the thing you use to stop a dirty utensil touching surfaces (not sure of what its called sorry!)
And the pup is hand fed at the moment as she is still weary of her bowl and two small to reach to the bottom! She doesn't eat much though.

Pickles,
Years ago when I brought home a puppy a Yorkie I also had at the time went up to the first floor bedroom and stayed there for two weeks. The only time she would come out is to go to the toilet and to eat - the rest of the time she spent sulking by herself. I let her go through it and after the first few weeks she was back to normal.
It sounds to me like the Westie is none to happy about competition, but she will get over it. Just make sure that the puppy does not get all the attention. And also make sure to give the Westie attention when the puppy is present - you want her to know that she's not getting any less because of the new arrival.
Have fun with your new puppy.
