The reults of Oscar's lungwash are back - it's not lungworm - it's encephalic bronchitis :( I'm starting to think I misheard the first word as I can't find out anything about the condition on the internet. I'd like to know if anyone has any experience of this and how it might affect Oscar long term. He has an inhaler to use twice a day to begin with and may have steroid tablets later on too. He is still undergoing tests to see the extent of his heart problems (enlarged heart and leaking valves) as the specialist feels that it coule be the bronchitis that's causing his symptoms (fainting, exercise intolerance etc) and we may beable to withdraw his heart meds in 6 months or so. He is currently strapped to an ECG monitor and he's not too happy about it - poor little thing.

Are you sure its not just chronic bronchitis Rachael? Glad that you may be able to withdraw the heart meds.

Hi Jas, I don't think so - but I'm going back later on today so I'll ask. It was hard to take it all in because he gave me lots of info at once and I had my 4 kiddies with me making a bit of noise. I thought of loads of questions when I got home :rolleyes:

Just thought it might be when you mentioned an inhaler and steroids. Best of luck when you go back today.

He said it's basically doggy asthma - so a long term condition.
