i have a 7 month old ckcs he is a very friendly and calm dog but he is really unsure about my family, he prefers to sit with me all day if he could, but if my husband or children talk to him he trys to hide behind me and does not want to go near them. if i get up and walk out of the room he has to follow as he does not want to stay with them, if he can't get to me then he will go sit in his bed in the kitchen or go outside.  i am worried that he will always be like this and never bond with them, what can i do to let them get close to him.

Hi Vkblue, does your dog go to socialisation classes, if he doesn't i think it would be a good idea to take him, maybe if your other family members had turns in spending qaulity time with him, grooming taking him for a walk and also sometimes feeding him.

Warm regards Susan

Are you the only one who cares for the dog - feeding, grooming, excercise etc?  If so, allow other members of your family to take the responsibility for some of these jobs....
