Hi

My 5 month old choc lab seems to have developed travel sickness!  She has been in the car a few times before (mainly motorway driving) however we took her up to the lake district last weekend & she started ribbling from her mouth excessively & then was sick.  She was fine afterwards but can't now go anywhere in the car without excessive dribbling & being sick now!  Any suggestions as to how to ovecome this?  We did buy some kalming tables however they just made her dozey n didn't stop the dribbling nor sickness!

Pls help!

try not feeding her before the journey.
I heard ginger is also good .
What worked for us was to put her in her crate with a cover over it for a couple of journeys and gradually lift the sides of the cover we did this over a period of weeks and it worked .She still not crazy about travelling and dribbles a little but never sick and much more relaxed in the car.

Hi we had the same problem, our puppy actually refused to get into car in the end,so bought some tablets from pets at home, about £2.99,but they are a trial to get down and her being so big needed 8,so bought some natures answer (k9)in a pump dispenser much easier to get down her,£6.99 from pets at home, and we went to see her breeder on Tuesday a 60 mile journey there and another 60 back,in the end she was getting in and out of car fine and has been since,i mentioned to the breeder about the travel sickness and she said they do outgrow it,and ginger biscuits are very good so tried those the other day and she was fine, the tablets and liquid have ginger and valerian in them, the ginger settles their tummies, and the valerian calms them down, but stick to the dose carefully valerian can be dangerous if overdosed.

Our Yankee was sick the whole way from Lincolnshire to London, poor little thing. For a couple of weeks after when we travelled with him and the Cavalier puppy we bought at the same time, the Yankee would howl and whine, though he wasn't often actually sick. Then we got a dog guard and had them loose in the boot instead of in separate small crates, and once he was with the Cav he seemed a bit happier. Now we either have him in a crate with the new puppy (as he no longer gets on with the Cav) or in a car harness on the back seat. He doesn't like the car but will put up with it. Not much help I know, but hopefully yours will grow out of it as well!

Same here, my Golden was car sick each and every time we got in the car for a ride, vet and breeded suggested to keep trying because most grow out of it, took a bit over a year but he did grow out of it and can now go on long trips with no sickness at all. I also used an over-the-counter car sickness medicine and had my vet give me the dosage amount.
