okay everyone..
i have got problems with my dog.. he's a bsd and we've named him rubble..

i think he's a clever dog..
he knows his name..
he knows to COME , SIT, LAY, ROLL , KISSIE and  SHAKE HANDS.

fecth seems immposible with him.. what should i teach him next???

he also has learnt a few words by himself like..

we usually say " here you go.." before giving him something .. he know "here"

when i say " other doogie" he knows i am refering to another dog.

when i say" chewy" he knows his chew stics and bones

and he knows " go" is out of the room . and "cha"  means to do his buisness.

and many many more,,,,

are all dogs soo clever.. can i be very proud of rubble??? :)

anyway what should i teach him next???

Where is the problem:D Sounds great to me.

If you are interested in more advance trainign why not join a class and prepare for some obedience competions?  They will give you more training ideas.

nope.. no training classes.. they proberbly are a waste.. of time and money ;)
he's very obiedient {rubble} and almost listens to everything i say..

but what should i train him next..????

he never seems to get the idea of fecth.. he looks really confused as if " what are you saying?? "

but he's a sweet guy who gets mad at other dogs... :?
he's not socialised yet.. is it too late?/

er, not sure why you think training classes are a waste of time and money - then you complain that your dog isn't socialised properly and you don't know what to teach him next... I rest my case...

A vital thing to learn: STAY! :) And walking nicely on the lead.

Re. fetching; a lot of BSDs don't see the point. :)

Try teaching Down or Wait or something like that for when he is at a distance running into possible trouble - has saved my Cav from serious trouble at least twice in his life!!

Ah , tricks are the easy part! Dont worry to much on these , i would start teaching to walk nicely on lead and coming when called while outside in parks or fields playingw ith other dogs! Many dogs know 'come' while inside but don't know the meaning to anything outside!

yeah.. but rubble walks beutifuly on the lead.. he usually stays along with me and doesnt pull on the lead untill another dog appears.
the other dogs act as if rubble does not exist till he starts barking.

how on eatrh do you teach him to stay? we've tried it several times.... he just never settles and waits...
we show the hand sign and tell him stay.. then when i start taking steps back .. he moves behind me.
- By ice_queen Date 31.08.05 11:15 UTC
don't step back from him yet! :)

Also try all these trick in the local park ;)

You do it little by little, slowly. Have him on a lead at first, sitting next to you. Say "stay" and give a hand signal (DON'T use his name as he will then come to you), then quickly take one small step away to the side of the dog, and at once step back again. Praise if he didn't move. You then just continue like that doing it gradually until he understands what is meant, and you can leave himn for  longer and longer, then further away than one step. They're clever dogs, my BSD pup did a one minute down stay with me 5 paces away at 16 weeks and I'd only practiced it for 3 weeks now and then. :)
