Max is basically scared of anything new , he is weary of things like garbage cans and locked up bikes. He's scared of flag poles and loud cars , anything new on the floor or on the walls. Bella is only scared of flags flapping on flagpoles and the occasional bag 'snap' before you line the trash can , know wuht i mean? Jojo is basically fearless , like a gun dog just very attentive of new sounds and ignores anything in his way , JJ hates rolling water battles on hardwood floor , he also hates bedsheets snapping when being changed. Sends him flying into the kitchen.
What are your dogs ~wierd~ phobias :p

flynn is scared of people blowing raspberrys!

Oscar is scared of stairgates. One fell on him as a pup and now he is very wary of even walking through one.
Last week I was very upset to find he hadn't eaten his dinner thinking he must be really poorly - until I saw the stairgate propped up nearby. As soon as it was tucked safely out of sight he happily ate all his dinner :D
Bess is scared of rasberry blowing as well.
She's frightened of my hubby sneezing (runs to her bed, out of the room, or the furthest corner of the room if the other two options aren't available) She's Ok if I sneeze though. :-D
She's also absolutely terrified of hubby's air compresser (understandable as it's a very sudden loud engine noise with hissing) She runs away and hides, trembling, with a petrified look on her face. :-(
My GSD is afraid of sneezing and would you believe....ants!

tangle only 15 week dont like the dark night going out for a wee.

Black bin bags are a NO GO! Spice will leave the room if I get the bin bags out?
Also she was wary of zimmer frames, but we've overcome that one by introducing her to one or two!
Her worst dislike tho' is my son's friend Rob! everyone else she has ever met she has made friends with, but she growls at Rob and backs off! he trys his best to befriend her but she just isn't having it, must be a 'smell thing' or so my son thinks???
Jacqueline :D
Glazby is afraid of anything on your head. Be it a hood on your coat, a hat, an umbrella or even when I'm feeling silly and put the colander on my head. He'll growl and bark and back away but as soon as you take them off he'll rush over to make sure your okay with lots of frantic licking!!
He was also afraid last Christmas day of the Christmas Pudding!! It was hilarious - he barked at it all the way to the kitchen table and then jumped up on a chair and carried on barking at it, we have no idea why though but it had us in stitches at the time!!! :D
Our staffie is scared of the phone ringing and howls his head off. He is also scared of our Rottie pup and locks himself in the bathroom.
The dustpan and brush. It doesn't even have to be moving, just standing against the wall in the kitchen, and she starts barking at it, jumping at it. She is only 8 week sold. We took it away for a few days, and then I used it last night and left it in the kitchen and the barking started again!

Copper doesn't like swishing noises like newspapers being waved about or even knives being sharpened. I've just taken up playing the accordion and every time I get it out the case he disappears upstairs with his paws over his ears :D

Bramble isn't scared of things exactly - but since we have had him he has gone berserk at:
the old-fashioned clothes airer hanging from the ceiling when it was lowered
the cling-film dispenser
my husband sneezing
the lounge door squeaking
the wine pump
matches
We have cured him of most of them to an extent - but he still HATES matches being struck. He just seems very sensitive to certain noises and barks furiously :D

Holly is scared of any type of broom/brush, especially if it makes a noise when it's brushed along the floor!
She's also scared of my dad coughing for some reason.
And if she has wind... :D she looks round at her bum then goes and hides!! :D
Raffie is terrified of the ironing board and my step dad!
He loves everyone else but seems to be scared of him for some reason.
He barks at him (from behind my legs) and wee's!
Hollie is scared of the word bath but nothing else fazes her really.
Don't take this the wrong way, but how bad is your playing, I am sure that as you improve, he may not be so scared :eek
Lucie is scared of hay bales :)

Heck Manny I've got Belgians - they're scared of
life :D
Just kidding folks ...... nearly got one to brave the rain this morning ;)

Jet doesn't like the power drill; comes to me whining and climbs up in my lap when DH is using it. Sometimes she does this and he is NOT using it. Must be a neighbour somewhere but I have no idea how far away. She LOVES the vacuum though and comes on the run for a rub-down every time it starts up.
Just discovered she doesn't like padlocks either...

My Cavalier boy is nervous around GSDs - he met a few that were friendly but too boisterous as a puppy, and now although he is happy with collies, mastiffs, Great Danes, Irish wolfhounds etc, whenever we meet a GSD in the park he slinks right around them and rejoins me later along the path!
I think my girl is scared of her metal water bowl because she can see her reflection in it - I don't often make her use it, poor thing!

Foster out standard poodle is scared of the ear cleaner! he will spring on the chair as far away as posible it sometimes takes 2 people to keep he still!

Oh Teri , i bet my bunch are more scared of life :D
Chester my 6 month GR is scared of the hoover, water (unless its in his bowl), his football, the bin men, and our new leather chair.
Thomas is scared of anything red! I know they say dogs are colour blind but anything red be it signs toys or anything else it does it too him.

What a fascinating list - and what a lot of things need to be introduced to a puppy in those first few weeks to avoid all these potentially scarey situations, and I thought it ended at washing machines, hoovers, babies and fireworks.......... Oh well, better get a bigger resource box for the puppies then.......

i personally dont thing dogs can just see black and white....
Fiona

I believe dogs can see colour but not in the same way we can. They don't have as many cones (photoreceptors) as we do.
The old black & white theory was abandoned years ago.
Millie's also afraid of the stairgate due to it falling on her a couple of times as a puppy (its only the light mesh travel variety, and it never fell, more slid down over here, but still). I have to confess to being guilty of, on occasion (and I mean only once or twice a year) when she's being REALLY naughty saying "if you don't stop I'll get the baby gate out". Instant perfecly behaved dog!
She is also scared of any kind of building site, roadworks, diggers etc. Even at weekends she can spot a building site or roadwork signs a mile off and head for home. The sound of scaffolding is another one that sends her running.
And her most recent one is rowing boats. We live right on the Thames and our local park leads down to the riverfront where there is a rowing club. Occasionally in the evenings you get 4 men rowing thingy's (like Steve Redgrave stylee) that glide silently across the still calm river but woah, if Millie catches sight of that, she's off for home, squealing like a pig, happened last night for the second time so I know this isn't a one-off.

Spender i agree with you Spender, i have herd a dog (from the owner) hated anything green for a while because it was in and out the vets and went through alot....

Indeed, they can see greens the best, other colours like reds and yellows are a little dull from what I understand.
Remy is (occasionally) afraid of lampposts - every so often he'll just look up at one and freak! Also fireworks and thunder (learnt that yesterday when we were caught out in a storm). Opi's not really scared of anything these days, although both of them find really big dogs a bit worrying, hairy ones especially - unless it's Opi's pal Dillon (big beardie) :D they soon realise it's okay though!

When we first rescued Sheba, she had a phobia of life. Far too many things to mention. She spent most of the time behind the sofa. Nowadays, she still doesn't like thunder if she's indoors; outdoors she doesn't appear to be bothered. Not to bad with firework bangs but when they make that screechy noise, she gets nervy.
Spender doesn't know the meaning of firework phobia; he was born on bomb fire night. :-D
Just discovered Chester is scared of water melon! Only when its whole, he was perfectly happy to try and pinch it off our plates when it was all cut up!

My boy hates it when my husband cooks - he associates it with the smoke alarm going off and my husband shouting at the smoke alarm and thumping it !. Not funny really, my dog actually hides and shakes when my husband starts putting a nice bit of steak under the grill. I just sit and talk to him until the meal is cooked and eventually he joins us in the kitchen again.
Not exactly scared but our two have a thing about farty sounds - if you blow a raspberry at them they both turn round and look at their rear end and then start licking our faces as if to say sorry ! - perhaps that's just a complex, not a phobia :D

Years ago we had one that was phobic about sellotape - she would show her teeth if you put it anywhere near her. Spooky is scared of skips, and always barks at them - I suppose they are large, still and threatening and they sometimes appear on familiar walks where they weren't before. She also shows distress at the word "filthy". Raider isn't scared of much, but he doesn't like people putting up umbrellas much. I always dread rainy outdoor shows. I never use one, and I guess that's why he's never got used to them.
Misty is scared of the timer on the oven when it goes off. The alarm clock doesn't worry her at all though. She is also petrified of the shower and the bath, but not so bothered about the hose pipe. Nor does she like doors that are ajar with a obstacle such as a shoe in the way, she will sniff and back off before take a huge running leap over the offending item :D

I know of a JRT that is terrfied of flys! Doesn't matter if they are big or small, he wants protecting if theres a fly about. He'll leap on your knee and shake, he crys none stop and can't sleep if there is a fly! Poor thing :p
My dog also dislikes flys - she runs and hides. Another thing she really hates is sprays of any kind - especially grooming ones :)
my staff Kizzi is scared of people chewing gum. Its because she has heard someone blowing a bubble and then popping it. She knows the difference between gum and ordinary sweets such as toffees. She goes completely scatty and shakes and trembles and runs round with her tail between her legs. She is the same with any bangs and firework night is a nightmare. Other staff Ellie is scared of hedgehogs and one of my cats. Jack russell cross Butch is scared of nothing apart from having a bath lol.

Maddie doesn't like you sneezing, she jumps at you! If I get a sneezing fit, hayfever sufferer, I have to go into another room and hold the door shut :D She doesn't like it if you 'jump' when scared either she will again run at you, can't watch a horror movie with her about. Molly doesn't like gates of any sort nor trolleys' or anything else on wheels.
Isnt it mad what they have things about. My eldest WSD X isnt really scared of anything but the youngest WSD doesnt like my washing basket - it fell down the stairs when he was a pup and he now just slinks into his bed if he sees one and he hates umbrellas - we got him in the summer and it must be the only thing we didnt introduce him to as it just didnt occur to us as it was sunny...
