i have brought a huskamute pup , and i was told that they suffer with hip and other health problems after i had brought him does any 1 know about these breeds

Well your dog is a cross breed so could suffer from any problems associated with either breed.  Hips are very good in Siberian Huskies (mean score 7) and average in Malamutes (mean score 13).

Problem is anyone that would deliberately mate the two is unlikely to ahve gbothered with the niceties of Hip Scoring either parent, and frankly problaby didn't use the best typical examples of either breed, so your guess is as good as mine.

Parents shoudl have been eye tested in at least one, but probably both breeds.

Couldn't have put it better myself!

Apparently the people selling these 'Huskamutes' are telling the buyers that they are KC reg and can be shown!!! They are also selling them for twice the price of a KC reg Sibe.

Predictably a lot of these  dogs end up in welfare with temperement problems, of course the breeder won't have them back. Why do people insisit in paying so much money for crossbreeds with health and temperement problems. There's one born every minute.

Hadn't heard of this cross before, but googling for it has just led me to one of the most depressing adverts I've ever seen. :(

Regular posters only please, PM me for link if you want to look and discuss - am not going to advertise for them by posting link here.

There are several people who sell *Huskamutes* unfortunately, and it is getting to be a well known crossbreed in the Mally world and, I assume in the Husky world too :(
- By Cyrus [gb] Date 26.08.05 18:38 UTC
Very well known in the husky world too mel its terrible, most *huskamute* breeders are from the unmentionable place and are trying to advertise their dogs as those used in the "Snowdogs" movie
So really they are advertising falsely and praying on those that really know nothing about either breed, just want a pretty dog :banghead:
- By Brainless [gb] Date 26.08.05 18:40 UTC
And of course these are the last people to be able to cope with either breed, and wil get no after sales care or advice from the 'breeder'
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 26.08.05 19:16 UTC
And Malamute rescue don't deal in crossbreeds :(
