Having bought Toby a crate on Wednesday evening, I was still feeling reluctant about the messing situation, and sure that Toby wouldn't take to his crate.
Well, I'm happy to tell you that I was wrong! After being introduced to it with treats, bones and play, he allowed us to crate him last night for the first time, and we only had a few little whimpers, and a couple of barks for the first hour or so, then he was quiet for the rest of the night. He was very happy to see me in the morning!!
I just can't believe it's all gone so well! I truly did put off getting a crate because Toby is so strong willed I never thought he'd go in there without a major struggle and sleepless nights on our part.
I'm very proud of him! Long may it continue!! I can at last clean my carpet with the hope that it will stay that way :D
Thanks to everyone for keeping on at me to get a crate - it could turn out to be the best thing I ever bought for him.

Hi Keeley,
I wish all people were like you - open-minded and willing to try things. Well done to YOU and am pleased the crate is working.
Best wishes,
Patty

Thanks Patty, although I must hold my hands up and admit that it took me a good 8 months to come round to the idea of a crate! If I'd gotten used to the idea when I first got Toby I'd have saved myself a lot of heart ache! Ah well, my mistake :)
Thanks for your kind words

Have just had an e-mail from my hubby informing me that he's just found Toby fast asleep in his crate!! He'd wandered down there, entirely of his own accord and got in and fell asleep! I'm gob smacked - but thoroughly chuffed!! :D

Sounds like a much happier Toby not to mention a happier Keeley too! So glad it's working out for you all :)
Excellent news, Keeley. I'm so pleased for you.

After the first couple of times coaxing them in, I now have trouble setting up my crates what with having dogs trying to throw themselves into them!! :-)
I agree - our springer cross loves his crate, he uses it as a place to escape from the children and Dylan the boxer (who actually doesn't like it because he can't bounce in it !) :D
Crates = one of the best doggy things invented IMO :)
