hi i would love to have an affix but can only think of one word ,if i fill the forms in and pay the money if they regect it do i loose my £70 and have to pay again when i think of another one

You wont lose your money.
They will return the form asking for 6 more choices and it will go on and on till you get it.
I would advise you to think of more than one ;-) It's not worth sending in the paperwork with just one name, I'm sure when I did it I only had to come up with 3 but I think it's 6 now. Its very hard I remember racking my brains for ages, in the end I got my 2nd choice which I was happy with :-) The reason for asking for 6 names is because they have to check it's not similar to other affixes. If you only submit one name the chances are 50/50 you will have to think of another one so thats why I wouldn't submit the form unless you've got 6 names minimum and and a backup list in case all the ones you've picked are too similar to someone elses. I'm not 100% sure but they might not even look at it unless you have completed all 6 boxes?
no you have to give about 6 choices i think and if they reject them they ask you for some more.

When our first choice was turned down they rang us to ask which name we wanted to use . we just made one up over the phone :D it wasent even on the list we had thought about it after but its too late once you have sent the form in :P fortunalty they accepted it :P
I ended up with my 9th choice.
Have been told they never give you your 1st choice, not sure if that is true or not, but in my case it is lol.

When I applied for mine I listed 6 and they rejected them then I had the form back and resubmitted 6 more the 1st being the same name as on my 1st application (which they had already rejected) and they granted me my 1st choice.

I got my first choice - but it was quite a long time ago.

I to got my 1st choice granted, but like Jeangenie, mine was many years ago also :-)

I got my new one three years ago, and it was my 5th choice. I had an affix in the 70s, but never used it except to add to my dogs bred by other breeders. By the time I bred my litter I thought the old affix was a bit naff, so I applied for a new one, having let the old one lapse.

Hi
We just got our Affix in he post today and they gave us our 2nd choice. I would have been well pleased with 1st, but 2nd is nearly as good.
So don't bank on 1st choice, they like you to give 3 to 6 choices of Affixes.

I got my 3rd choice! really loved my first two but when I saw the letter in the post was to tell me I got an affix, I was thrilled!!!!! :D regardless of choice, cos I had prepared myself for a really long wait, with mine having to be selected by the IKC and then also approved by the KC (cos we live in Ireland).........I got the shock of my life when I saw the letter!! :) Was better than Christmas to know all the stress of waiting and hoping to get any word was over!!!!! And just in a few weeks!
Carol :)
i got my first affix too, a couple of years ago but what i did first was buy the most recent kennel club affix booklet for £6 to see what was or wasn't around. Its also been useful when choosing kennel club names for the pup, because an affix name can't be used in any circumstance on your pup, even if you do have an affix. for example if someone's affix is Trump, then then noone can call their pup
( their affix)-----Trump. useful booklet to have - although obviously, as there are affix applications every day, it isn't 100 % but it showed me thatwhat would have been my first choice had already been chosen and so it got me thinking more.

Hi Lazydaze (Jane)
Yes same here. I ordered a copy of the Gazette too. What about you?
CJ
HI CJ
I get a copy everymonth off my newsagents.
I had my certificate when they said name was available, but if someone objects you have to send it back.
Plus they dont let you know when it is ok to use it.
I thought waiting time was just 6 weeks.
