Hello Every one . I just came home from the vet with my eight week old puppy, he had his first set of shots. To Date he is by far the nicest puppy that I have ever bred, and I am so excited about him. The vet could only feel one testicle, which has not dropped yet, she could not find the second one, she also told me not to worry.....ya right. I am used to most of my male puppies having dropped theres by this time. As I will be showing this little man (hopefully ) he needs both to be here. Can anyone give me some insight ...make me feel better haha.
Thanks so much
Lucy

There isn't an average age for them to drop. We've just had a dog pup back on holiday - I couldn't feel his at all at 8 weeks, and pointed it out to new owners, and told them not to worry. There he is at 16 weeks with them both fine.
Have had them come down as late as 6 months - some say they've had them much later.

Yep, my youngest dropped his last one at 8 months. :p Didn't notice the previous dog, had no idea about them supposed to be doing anything until the vet checked him and announced all was normal but don't remember how old he was.

I have just replied to a thread in Visitors because my cocker spaniel pup of nearly 7 months both testicles haven't dropped. I can't find any sign of them either and am terribly worried. My vet told me not to worry until he is aboout 1 year old, then he will need an operation to remove both of them if they havent dropped, which will cost about 700-800 pounds. I am insured but I am not sure if this sort of problem is covered by insurance.

In a book i've just been reading it did say they can drop at ten months old.
Warm regards Susan
my dogs hadn't dropped at one. he had an operation to remove them in case they became cancerous. insurance does not cover and dog for this for any reason as it is optional by the owner.

Hi Janet thanks for your reply. I hope you dont mind me asking but how much did you pay for your dog's operation. i have been told that my vet who is medivet is very expensive and my breeder told me her vet would do the operation much cheaper. But that would mean a very long trip from London to Lincolnshire.
