I went to my vets today to get my bitch scanned. I know she is pregnant, but i just wanted to make sure the pups were healthy and wanted to know on average how many pups she is going to have as i have 10 eager owners to be wanting a puppy. I took her into the consultation room and the vet told me there was no point scanning her because she is too far gone, so i went home. Is there a limit to so many days aftermating?

I personally wouldn't have thought so.

Yes it does matter, the further along the prenancy the harder it is to give numbers, I think thats why they prefer to do they at the 4-5 week mark.

Yes my breeder had his bitch scanned at 7 weeks, and they were able to tell him very little because he left it a bit too long before scanning her.
