we've recently got a 10month old border collie, but she goes to bite us for all sorts of reasons. We rtried putting a muzzle on her but her last owner used this as general punishment for everything and she just stands perfectly still and won't respond to us at all with it on. What else can we try?

Is it puppy biting that has just not been worked on, or do you feel it's more than that?

Try getting hold of Carol Price's "Understanding the Border collie", it's very helpful, and she has also written one specifically for rescue dogs as has Gwen Bailey which may give you some support.

I'd also advise trying a good reward based trainer, look for www.apdt.co.uk or if you want to mention roughly whereabouts you are, perhaps someone could recommend a trainer :)

They will help you help your dog hopefully.
