Thank you everyone :D will pass on all your good wishes and congrats to Kat & Ru.  Have tried calling myself 'Grandma' a few times' lol, still sinking in.  Will love my little (big) grandson to bits, ...but the grannie thing, hmmm just not me lol.  Mum and Dad are now under strict instructions that I should now be reffered to as 'grandemére' :D :D ;)

Kay (still grinning) :D :P

:D  Me neither, but apparently I had no say in the matter... My suggestion of 'get a dog instead' did not go down too well :(  :D

My mum is Grandma and my Dad (not with us now) was and is still known as Grandpa :) Mike's side are Nana and Grandpops or Pop pops :)

My own Grandparents were known as Bompa and Nana ( they were nice :) ) and the other side were Nana Nor Nor aka the wicked witch  . I never knew my other Granddad :( If he was anythimg like my Dad he would have been wonderful :D

God forbid I become a grandparent at least for another 20 years but......... I think Nana 'ucy is what I would like to be known as :D

Oh god I am getting Grandparentmaternal   It is your fault Kay :D Any piccies yet ? :D

My mother is Nana - so I don't want to be that :) I hate Granny and Grandma. I have no experience of calling a grandparent anything (my father's mother was Nana, but as she died when I was 3, I don't remember her). I'm looking for a good name - so I refuse to be a grandparent before I find one :D My children always call hubby 'Diddums', so I expect that any grandchildren will call him that too :D The way that my son and his girlfriend are all over each other  as I speak, it may not be too long before I have the privilege (but hopefully they will wait until they've finished uni and have jobs :D ) Any suggestions for good 'granny' names anyone :D

Both sets of grandparents were grandma and papa, all died when I was quite young except my fathers mother who lived to a ripe old age of 93 and was very active (ie;painted the livingroom ceiling at 92) and she became gran as I matured, both my daughters also called her gran.  My father was also papa and mum was grandma, although she died when they were quite young. I dont really know what I would like to be known as but definately not nana or granny.  I just feel too young, and a couple of my friends are just having their own children now, never mind grandchildren :P  Also, I just feel so far away, (7.5hours drive) I wonder if I would feel differently if they lived closer to me.  I loved my mothers mum to bits, but only saw her twice a year, although I stayed with her during summer school hols, but never really go to know her properly. She died when I was 17. Still I am sure Kat will think of a few names for me :D :D

Will see him in a few weeks though, Kat and Ru are coming up to stay for a week or so :D
