We were on holiday last month in LA and went into every pet shop we passed to see if there was anything I wanted to buy Roxy (which, of course, there was in most of them :D ).  I was horrified by one we went into in a shopping mall in Beverley Hills where they had puppies in glass containers slightly bigger than that you'd normally find a hamster in.  I was so upset.  They had loads of breeds - poodles, yorkies, poms, etc - and the pups didn't look any more than about four weeks old and there was no mother in sight.  It was so cruel.  How are they allowed to do this, it's awful.  Needless to say, I didn't buy anything in that shop.  :(

I had the same experience when I stayed in California a few times. And even worse, when I went shopping to the local supermarket, there were often cars in the car park sellin puppies from the boots! People were handing out flyers too, saying things like "Dalmation puppies, priced to sell!"
