hi all, i have 2 sbt ,libbi the youngest(1 and a half)has decided that she is gonna growl, bark, go crazy whenever someone walks past the gate with a dog,she only started doing this a few weeks ago,her sister molly (2 and a half) will just sit there without making a sound.libbi will make all this noise and people still stop and speak (with there dogs ) and she is fine.take her out 4 a walk if she sees another dog not a sound, if they come 2 say hello she will just stand there and do nothing, so why all this noise when she's in the garden,any advice would be great

She's guarding her home. :) Most dogs will do this when behind a fence. You best bet is to not allow the dogs to be in the front garden, and only in the back. It's safer anyway, as they can't be let out accidentally by the postman or anyone else.

thanks goldmali, this is what i thought, we live on a corner plot so is a bit hard to confine her 2 the back garden as it so small, was thinking of putting up a wooden gate ( metal at the mo) ,but then molly loves 2 sit there and get all the fus of people walking past.as 4 the postman, he was a bit worried about comming in 2 start with ,now a few months on he drops of the mail then stays 2 play with them lol

Sounds like perfectly normal dog behaviour to me!  I mean, she isn't about to let the whole canine community into her garden, is she?

She barks. The other dogs/owners walk away...job done!

good news she's normal lol,half the time people don't walk away they stay 2 chat even if they have there dogs with them ,then she shuts up, i think she is just telling people that walk past, oy i am here now come and say hello and get licked 2 death lol
