Can you tell me if there are two differnt knds of Golden retrievers.... as I have been looking to buy one... and there seems to be such a big difference in the puppy coats and dog sizes.. they look like completeley differnt dogs? Thanks very much. Steve.

Goldens are not my breed, but, one thing I have noticed is the colours, where have all the lovely golden retrievers gone, more and more dogs in the show ring with these cream coats !!! I thought goldens were a lovely rich gold colour which I prefer. It is golden retriever not cream retriever !!!! I dont want to start a war I am just passing comments.

Couldn't agree more Irene. Also we are getting far more trouble with eyes in the off white ones.

I also agree.

Many years ago my step Nan bred Goldies and all hers were the very rich golden colour.
She only has the one Goldie now which is 10 years old and is the rich golden colour.

But many a time my Nan says todays goldies are not the same in looks and colour as they were.
