You should be willing to travel to the end of the earth for the right stud dog! Location should be your last priority.
You will need to inform stud owners of her breed lines and her health test results .What faults does she have? Has she proved herself to be a suitable breeding bitch in the show ring or has she been individually assessed by a breed expert?

so archer are ypu trying to say you would travel for example to Australia to breed your dog. Just a question.
I must say i have read alot of your posts and they make alot of sense, and would like to hear from you.

IF I were to breed my dog...which I don't ,then if a suitable stud couldn't be found within this country then YES I would travel to where ever.I believe in the old saying...if somethings worth doing its worth doing well and think that dog breeding should ALWAYS be done for the best reasons and to the best of our abilities to produce the best pups possible not just to increase numbers of poorly bred pet dogs.
I own 3 males....one has his stud book number and 2 RCC's...one from Crufts.I have been asked by people to use then at stud but the fact that it would earn me £500 per mating is not sufficient! There are better dogs out there than mine who can contribute more to the breed.
I hope you understand what I mean :d

Good breeders who have the improvement of their chosen breed at heart and want the best and most compatible stud for their bitch regularly travel to the Continent if there is nothing suitable in the UK - further afield in say Australia or the US, it is not uncommon for frozen semen to be made use of or occasionally if a dog is of such merit that he would be useful to a few bitches over here, then providing the owner is agreeable often the dog is imported on loan for say 6-12 months and can also then be shown here too. Likewise UK dogs have been used by the Americas and Australasia.

thank you Teri, that seems a more suitable idea.

Or you would import one as many people do to make an investment in their breeds gene pool, especialy in a numericaly small breed like ours that would cease to be viable without the injection of expensively imported new blood.

Brainless couldn't agree with you more! I imported a dog, not too far away from Spain and up to now with his two litters that have been born in the country, although it's still early days I'm so glad that I had the chance to do it.

Yes, a German bitch came all the way up to us from Southern Germany for a mating, and we may well go back to her brother next year .
If it's the right combination, and you can't find anything suitable here, you just have to go if you want to move on in your breeding programme.
