Hi, I might have a border collie puppy! :D :D :D I say might because there were only two puppies born, on Tuesday p.m. The first out was a 12oz blue dog, and then nothing for three hours until the breeder decided there was just something not quite right so off to the vets. The young vet she saw wasn't sure either so x-rayed, and still wasn't sure. On consulting the more senior vets, eventually one decided one of the shadows on the x-ray could possibly have some spine showing. "Mum" was given a shot of oxytosin (sp?) and was being given a slow dose of calcium when out popped a tiny black and white bitch pup, all of 4 and a quarter oz!!! Cider has been very protective of them after all the upheaval at the vets, and it took until she went out for a wee before Catherine could check them and weigh them again after 24 hours: both had put on 2oz. The breeder wasn't going to call me until tomorrow but I beat her to it. I'm now going to be a bag of nerves every time the phone rings in case it's Catherine calling to tell me something has happened to the tiny little scrap! She's nick-named her Shadow after the x-ray for now. It might have to stay if she survives. :)
LynnT (with everything crossed for a thriving puppy)

Fingers crossed for you and the puppy :D
Good Luck

Oh fingers and toes crossed for you then:) Is mum alright:)
Stacey x x x

Hi Lynn I will keep everything crossed for you and the little might but hopefully as mum isn't to stretched with only one other pup to feed she will come on in leaps and bounds.:D Gillian

Thanks! :)
Yes, apparently Cider is absolutely fine. Catherine is an experienced breeder so was keeping a close eye on her and just felt things had gone a bit too quiet. She had a feel around but couldn't detect another pup, and Cider just looked bemused by it all. Cider was good as gold at the vets while she was examined, x-rayed, injected and delivered! Her first pup was with her, and when they got home she just wanted to be left alone with them. I can't blame her at all after that! It's not her first litter and she just wanted to get on with being a mum.
Hopefully the pup has started feeding the way she means to go on! I have to phone for an update tomorrow afternoon.

Well I have absolutley everything crossed for you :) I am a bit of a contortionist (sp?) really :D
I really really really hope that this is the pup for you.
At least it will give Ruby somebody else to annoy instead of just Ben!!!!!
Everybody is praying for you :)

Good luck with the puppy! I'm sure she'll be fine with all that extra attention and milk she'll get from her mother and breeder. :) Not necessarily in that order! :D :D

Apparently when Cider stood up this morning to say hello to Catherine, the little one came too, attached to a teat! :D Nothing wrong with her sucking then! The breeder sounded a lot more confident about her another 24 hours on. She's going to take a photo for me and e-mail it but says that as they're on white vet-bed, I'll only see the black bits! :) I think I'm going to allow myself to get excited about this puppy by the weekend (who'm I kidding, I'm already excited :) ) Now where was that thread about all the things you need for your puppy...........

The little pup has now doubled her birth-weight. We're going to see her on July 13th which seems so far away at the moment, but I know it'll be here in a flash. :)
I've pretty much settled on my original thought of Abby for her name, and it had completely passed me by that she's descended from Clan-Abby lines until the breeder pointed it out!
I'm counting down now. Roll on August! :D

Lynn she's lovely- the name's got to be abby after all this:) I'm so chuffed for you- she does seem to be coming on though- you could see what names mean fighter. It's amazing isn't it how slow the time goes to getting them. It seemed like forever when I was getting Kassie now I can't believe she's been home over a month already:o When I went to get her I was dying to get out of the breeders house so I could get her home and then she'd truely be MY dog:) I was happy as larry the other week too when her KC forms came back with my name and address on as her owner- she's all mine (like a spoilt brat aren't I) ;) I can't wait for you Lynn, I'm so chuffed for you:)

I've never started a thread where I had to edit the original message before so didn't realise that the thread title comes up with it to edit, so title changed! :)
I've made a long list from your thread, Stacey - now I've just got to work out what I've already got, and what I used up/ threw away/ didn't have when Ben arrived a couple of years ago!

Stacey
I hate to think what my pup says about me :D especially in the evenings when I am cuddled up on her favourite place (hubbys lap :p ) and she is glaring at me :D It probably doesnt help that i stick my tongue out :p and say NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH :D :D

Ali did you ever see the advert where the ginger haired kid did that to an elephant whilst munching a rolo- I'd tread very carefully if I was you- that elephant ended up being the one saying nah nah nana nah:D
Stacey x x x
By ALI.C
Date 24.06.02 23:12 UTC
OH NO
I remember the advert now!

Perhaps she can have hubbys lap after all :D
Shes only little at the moment but she is gonna be one big Boxer one day! :p

How old is she now- how big? Kass went to the vets earlier for her 2nd jab- she weighs 17kg at exactly 13 weeks old:o- I had to carry her all the way- can't even put them down in the waiting room:(-

Hi Stacey
Have just sent you an e-mail with a piccy :)

Hi Ali I was actually thinking of my sister-in-laws baby guinea pigs when I wrote my reply:D :D :D.Gillian
By LynnT
Date 25.06.02 17:48 UTC
So what nick-name do I go for? Guinea or piglet? :D :D
I've just had a quick chat with Catherine's husband who says everything is still progressing well. Both pups have more than doubled their birth-weights. That must make the boy huge!!! :)
I'll update when I get some more piccies.
LynnT

I rather like Guinea! As in the money. She will hpefully grow from a sixpence into something worth Guineas!!! :D
By LynnT
Date 25.06.02 21:36 UTC
She's certainly going to cost some guineas!:)
Oh, and the first thing the lady who runs the training club said when she saw the photos this evening? "Looks like a guinea-pig!" There's obviously no fighting it! :D
LynnT

Hi Lynn I wouldn't be to worried about her being compared to a guinea pig at her age.She will undoutable get her own back when she grows into the beautiful collie that is lurking in that lovely little (but growing) bundle. Please do keep us updated and when you get more pics I would love to see them.Gillian
