Is anyone going to Belfast champ show in Sept. If so what its like?

I'm going but only to spectate. I went last year too to look at the Newfs. Spent a while wandering around the rings and the stalls and watched the agility for ages. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to this year as I now know some of the people (and Newfs) who'll be showing :)
I have just moved from Liverpool back home to belfast after 6yrs. This will be my first time at the show. My whole family will be packed up in the car as well as the dog!!!!!

Hi
A family day out then...you should all enjoy it and there is plenty to see. Take plenty of cash for the stalls if, like me, you're an impulse buyer with a tendency to spoil your dogs!!
How are you readjusting to life in good old Belfast after such a long time away?
Belfast is very much like Liverpool and the scousers have the same sense of humour as us! Its been weird adjusting back to home life. Belfast has changed so much in 6 yrs! Buts its nice being back home with all my family! And the dogs are having a whale of a time too!!

In that case, welcome home!! Glad you're enjoying being back. I love Liverpool too and I can see what you mean about the two being similar.
Hope you and the family enjoy the show. If you happen to be there on the Saturday, I'll be the one stalking all the Newfie owners :P
Hi Shaynloa, Do you know of any ringcraft classes in Belfast. I was a member of the best ringcraft club in liverpool the Merseyside Boxer club but I'd like to find another before the show to get a bit of last minute practice in! Thanks Clare

Hi
I think the City of Belfast Dog Training Club run ringcraft as well as obedience classes. They are based in Braniel (East Belfast) and their number is 02890 591911 or e-mail info@belfastdogtraining.co.uk. I don't go to this club myself but I know loads of people who do and speak very highly of it. I'll ask around aong the people I know who show and see if I can find you any more info.
You could also try ringing Michael McCartney (02892 622992) who may be able to point you in the right direction. He runs various classes but I'm not sure if he does ringcraft (although he does show a lot himself)
Thanks Shaynlola. I really appreciate your help. I'll give them a ring! The last show I did was back in May so we both need the practice! I'll look out for you at the show! I'm showing on Friday(English Bull Terriers)! Thanks Clare

Yes I am going and it is quite good. Reminds me a bit of SKC for some reason.

I was going to go but then decided that it was a bit too far to go when I can only go in the import register clarss and if I win I can't go any furhter so decided to save my money :d

I was going to go too, until I found out there isn't a class for my girl. Would you believe that at Belfast Champ show of all places there isn't a suitable class for my young Irish Setter bitch. Classes go straight from Junior to post Grad. My wee girl is just out of Junior and is far too young for Post Grad as she hasn't got her full coat on yet and at not even two I think she is a bit young especially for an Irish. They don't have tickets for Gordons, so it's pointless me going. To say I'm not impressed is an understatement. I have been for the past two years and have really enjoyed my day out. Oh well saves some cash I suppose :D
Hi Alli, I was checking 2004 show results for the EBT and they had most classes for the breed. This year they have no puppy classes for my breed, its just as well as my iboy is in junior dog but I think they have combined this class also-Junior Dog or Junior Bitch -JD/B I think the classes have been reduced because they haven't had many entries the previous year. I'm still looking forward to it though as I'm back in my home town! I would have thought that their would have been more classes for Irish setters as there are usually big entries for this breed. Oh well!

The entries for Irish weren't huge last year, but that could have been a lot to do with the judge as she very firmly likes a certain type of dog. The thing that surprises me most is that the judge for Irish this year is non breed and tends to do his own thing. I really wanted to bring my girls out under him. Thats why I'm so surprised at the lack of classification. Oh well there is always next year I suppose and maybe by that time my youngest will her her clothes on and be ready to go do her thing !!
Good luck and hope you do well
Cheers Alli, I definately need it!!!!! Kind regards, Clare
good luck at the show , let me no how you get on
I'm going as my reward for exam results lol. We have the added bonus of the boxer club on the friday so have two shows in one! Should be fun!
Jen
Congratulations on your exam results! I also have a boxer dog but I don't show him baecause he has a bad leg! Is the boxer show in Belfast too? Kind regards Clare

Hi Clare
I know someone who shows boxers and I think he told me their show is in Comber Leisure Centre.
Jules
Hi Shaynlola, do you know what date its on? Thanks

I *think* its 23rd September as well...shows in this part of the world are like buses...you wait ages for one and then two come along at once

Hello, Belfast champ show is on both friday 23rd and saturday 24th of sept. On friday for hound, gundog and terrier, saturday for utility, pastoral, working and toy. I will be there for yankees on friday but only spectating as Pippin still too young to show!!! :)
Carol

Does anyone have a schedule for the Belfast Show? Need to know roughly when and where the Newfies will be on the Saturday.
Cheers
Hi Shaynlola, I have been sent nothing yet about times.

Hi
I checked the website and the schedule details don't seem to be on there either so maybe its just a bit early yet.
