I would't leave young dogs together alone ever. They can wrestle and get hurt without you knowing , and double the mischief.

Depends on the dogs, but the more similar they are (breed, sex, age, family), the higher the likely hood that they will continue as there aren't enough doggie differences to seperate them in a hierachy. And as another poster says on here - dogs fight for breeding rights, bitches fight for breathing rights.......
Always cage at least one when alone . eating through a door is no prob.
Dead dogs and blood n guts aint worth the risk
Thanks agian mr murph decided to go with english staffy good quality one just to keep things trouble free.
Thanks for all your help.
If you want 2, why not get one and then get another in a couple of years. Personally I would never have 2 bitches, a male and a female would be better, or 2 males but I would never advise anyone to get 2 girls.

Is that for Staffs or all breeds in your opinon. Most breeders ans multifog owners I know have multiple bitches without problems. I have five. I would say that if bitches do take a dislike to each other their fithting will be serious, but they have less to fall out over without the macho male bit. I think it would be true to say males are more likely to fight, but bitches more seriously.

I meant colliesrus opinion on keeping bitches together, whether their opinion refered to all bitches or just Staffs. :D
From what I have been told by experienced Staff owners is that no two staffs should be left alone unsupervised, regardless of sex.
IMO all breeds, especially if they will grow up to be a similar size/strength. Yes males will fight but bitches seem to want to kill each other. There is always an exception to any situation and I think experience in understanding dogs and pack behaviour always helps, such as by yourself and other breeders, but for anyone relatively new to multidog households then, sorry, yes I will always advise against getting two bitches from the same litter, preferably not at all. As I say, JMHO which isn't worth much but there you go. :)

I would be agains two pups in a household at a time, especially same sex, but even dog and bitch pups can fall out as they amture because of competitiveness.
My bitches are all 2 to 4 years apart in age, most 3 years.

Exactly Brainless (please will you change your username!) plus you're an experienced dog owner/breeder, it doesn't sound as though the op is. I did also advise him to wait a couple of years between them as neither would I recommend anyone gets two from the same litter. :)

You learn a bit with each new one. I can now walk as many of 6 of my breed (different ages and well mannered) but found it took all my wits when I had just one then two 10 years ago.
Don't you just. ;) I am on my 4th collie and with each one my experience has doubled. I am lucky in that I still have the oldest (nearly 11) but mum often comments on how differently I handle the latest addition in comparison to the first. Makes me blush with shame about the stupid things I did back then but I suppose that's how we learn. I am an only child and mum's said countless times how different she would have been if she had had more. Fortunately for me she didn't! :p
Just read the trail of advice and just wanted to add it is not wise to keep 2 male Staffords together. They will very rarely co-exist peacefully and will end up causing you a lot of heartache.
With Staffords you can keep a dog and a bitch or 2 bitches together and if brought up properly and trained well, you shouldn't have any problems.
However we would not recommend keeping two puppies from same litter as they are extremely hard work and will take longer to train. Would recommend keeping one and then, getting another or keeping another at a later date.
Let one settle and grow then keep a companion later on, life will be a lot easier and they will get on with each other much better.
As with any breed be careful leaving to dogs alone together, like children they will scrap over toys etc treat them like toddlers!
