Shopping alone today in the supermarket, I picked up a jar of Bovril thinking I hadn't had a cup of Bovril for ages, as you do, on reading the label (I have to, as I'm gluten-free) I discover THERE'S NO BEEF!!!!    It's nothing more than Vegemite in a different bottle !! :( :( and who'd want to drink that??

If I want to have a cup of beefy, I have to buy the stock cubes :( :(  but its just not the same is it :( :(   Thank goodness there's an own brand version - phew! (don't know if it'll taste the same tho :( )

I noticed that too recently. It used to have beef extract, I guess they stopped it when the bse problem started -  I expect sales dropped.

Take one crumbled oxo cube, one mug and boiling water and Voila! - yummy - 'specially on cold wintry afternoons when you're curled up in front of the box.... :)

Yes, I know about OXO cubes but they aren't gluten-free  and would make me ill :( :(

I think the BSE crisis is just the excuse Bovril were looking for  after all real beef stock = expensive, hydrolysed yeast protein (by-product of brewing industry) = cheap as chips, no contest   but you can't beat that Bovril taste when you want a quick savoury drink ;)  ah well back to the Bouillon :)

Nooooo......Bovril, I haven't had that in years and for them to do this is disgraceful  Right, I'm going to pack my tent and I'm going to go camp outside their factory in protest until they put it back to the way it was, somethings are best left original in my book :p

Yup, I agree ;)

We've already got Marmite and Vegemite, why should we get 'Bovrite' as well??

BRING BACK BOVRIL !
