Just came in on the end of a programme on BBC2 (I think) - on clicker training husbands

I really must try this with my OH - don't know how long it will take him to get the idea of putting things away etc etc ......spent 45 mins this morning trying to find dog leads which  hadn't been put back in the proper place!

I'll have to watch next week's programme....:D :D :D

Margot  I have to say that this is a BRILLIANT program. I kind of had it on 'cos there wasnt a lot else and ended up watching it and laughing my head off. I couldnt believe that her husband had dogs and she obviously had so little to do with them that she wasnt even relaxed in the presence of a dog. Still she got the hang of it in the end.

I'm not looking forward to next weeks - the wife wants her husband to spend more time with her, and LESS ON THE COMPUTER!!!!........
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 22.08.05 19:09 UTC
.....Less time on the computer.....

whoops - maybe I shan't watch that one ;)

- By clutha [gb] Date 22.08.05 20:15 UTC
thats funny, on another forum, the entire thread - also female - said it was total rubbish!
never saw it myself
- By Teri Date 22.08.05 20:18 UTC
I just watched it on video (how sad am I  and how "new age" is OH who recorded it for me :D )  We both came to the conclusion that the wife was just a nag - and she didn't have much rapport with dogs either ;)

- By colliesrus [gb] Date 22.08.05 20:37 UTC

>the wife was just a nag

Is that legal? I thought it was called beastiality or something...
- By Teri Date 22.08.05 20:40 UTC
See, lowers the tone again!  Where's Natalie .................... :D

note to Natalie - it wasn't ME!

I haven't seen it, BUT would like to say that yes, husands do work like dogs. (As long as he is of good breeding and does not have an aggressive temper, in which case the only solution unfortunately is to get rid of him. Sadly you cannot have him humanely put to sleep OR castrated to prevent him from attaching himself to another unsuspecting woman.) Praise and encouragment works wonders, as does rewards, you get wonderful results, a happy husband, and things get done without you ever having to nag them. ;)

I keep telling my husband that he is nagging the dog!  thank goodness for puppy (husband) training classes tomorrow night.
- By Moonmaiden Date 22.08.05 20:56 UTC
LOL I thought it was brilliant & yes she was a nagging wife & no wonder the poor bloke switched off !
- By mannyG [us] Date 22.08.05 21:52 UTC
That would be horrible
- By Trevor [gb] Date 23.08.05 05:43 UTC
God I thought it was AWFUL !!! - kept thinking this had to be some kind of comedy programme. Can you imagine a programme called 'Train your Wife the Clicker way" we'd all be jumping up and down and writing to the BBC.

Tell me - it WAS a joke right ?

but men *do* train their wives - they use the sulk technique as opposed to the clicker technique......
- By Robert K Date 23.08.05 15:38 UTC
Sorry Digger, who did you say uses the sulk technique? :D
- By Teri Date 23.08.05 15:49 UTC
Men, MEN, MEN  -  woman don't sulk Robert    they simply make strategic use of prolonged periods of silence ;) :P  say no more  :D
- By Natalie1212 Date 23.08.05 15:58 UTC
LOL I think I have lost my marbles, I have read this post about 3 times now, and it still doesn't make sense!! Who trained who with the clicker? Is it the hubbie training the dog's or the wife? Or is it the nagging wife training the hubbie? Or has the dog got nothing to do with it? (Some one mentioned a nag!!! ;) ) I think I might just slowly walk out of this thread... and then run for my life!! :D

Margot how did your interview go?
- By Bluebell [gb] Date 23.08.05 17:23 UTC
Ok the idea is to use dog training techniques on the husband. It worked quite well but she was a dreadful nag. Reminded me of so many people at training classes, who think that continual repition of a word will get compliance.
- By Robert K Date 23.08.05 18:02 UTC
Have women on this board lost the use of their "W" and "O" keys :)

Its WOMEN who sulk and MEN who suffer in silence :D

Now Digger and Teri, say after me WOMEN, WOMEN sulk, see easy peasey hehehehe ;)
- By digger [gb] Date 23.08.05 18:04 UTC
And if we don't?..............

(Thought so ;))
- By Teri Date 23.08.05 18:19 UTC
Shan't, can't, won't!  Haughty sniff, dusts off hands, smirking in the way only the female of the species can :D

- By Teri Date 23.08.05 19:11 UTC

He didn't stand a chance really did he??  I like more of a challenge, maybe that's why I prefer dogs......
- By Boxer Mum Date 24.08.05 17:56 UTC
Clicker train kids - now there's a challenge :)
- By digger [gb] Date 24.08.05 18:15 UTC
Been there, done that one too - a pack of 16 Cub Scouts, plus 3 sons of my own ;)  Dogs are still more of a challenge :)
