4 Goldens...
Food: Maybe $3000-4000 (treats, toys and extra's - included)
Groomer: Maybe $500-1000
Normal Vet: $500.00
Vet & Hospital Bills for Bella: $10,000.00 (has a neurological bladder condition - took 1 week at the specialist - the first time and 2 weeks at the specialist the second time to find out why he wasn't peeing) Thank goodness we only went through this the 2 times.
Prescription Drugs for Bella: $23.00 per day - $8,395.00 annually to control bladder functions - 10 people pills per day.
Adds up to about $20,000 cdn each year , tears a hole in my wallet!

Just looked it up and have spent about £4000 since last year. This includes about 20 shows entered (10 championship the rest Open or Companion shows) and a contribution to petrol.
This does include the cost of rearing a litter, so after the sale of the pups It brought the costs down to just over £2000.
Thankfully there were no Vets costs included in that that year, and I do not Insure my dogs. It would cost me another £750 at least to insure them.
I don't even want to think about it!!!!! Let's put it this way I pay out more in food, toys, bedding etc. on my dogs than I do myself.
No I'm not even going to think about adding it all up :d

Gosh, I wouldn't know where to start. I remember adding it up ages ago as someone asked me the same question and it was about £3000 annually at the time. That's without vets fees but hydrotherapy alone is £800 a year. It seems quite a lot as I don't show them.

Why do you need to pay a groomer for GOLDENS Manny? Just curious! (I've had Goldens for 24 years.) How are they shown in Canada, US style or UK style? (US style it seems very little is done to them as all the fur we get rid of is kept there. :D )
I really don't want to know what we spend. However I know we spend several times the amount we spend on the dogs, on the cats. In my experience cats are an awful lot more expensive -even the cat shows cost twice as much as the dog shows. It's a too scary thought to contemplate calculating all the costs!

Yes , 3 cats here but i'd have to say they are cheaper , only have one outdoor-indoor cat who tends to get into alot of mischief
Woah that looks expensive!
My 2 labs are aprox as follows:
Food & Treats etc £300 pa
Insurance £250 pa
Jabs £50 pa
herbs, vitimins etc £200 pa
So well under £1000 pa A bargain!!!!
On average my two cost me just over £130 each per year. :)

My two cost much the same:
Food - about £350 ish (depending how much cheap meat we can get from the supermarket :D )
Jabs - about £60 for two
Insurance - mine is nearer £400
Don't do vitamins etc apart from homegrown garlic and a large tub of Keepers Mix that has lasted nearly two years (I've forgotten how much it cost)
They're all the essentials - but in addition:
Training and agility classes - about £10 per week (including petrol)
Kennels - £20 a day - if we have a holiday or have to go away (about 7 days this year)
Daisy
i worked it out as £2,543.50 thats with jabs, worming, flea treatment, food, toys, training dog days out, collars, leads etc. Thats without adding any vet bills which this year have been about £1000 easily with Tess's vet bill Ollies ear, Moss not eating, Cass having the sickys. i definately aint sharing all that with my dad, i dont think he's ever added it up.

Based on the previous 12 months
food £1080.00
Vets (inc e/thing, jabs, minor visits, etc) £1800.00
BVA £88.00
Eye tests £80.00
Show entry fees £1000.00
Fuel (travel to shows) £1440.00
vits and minerals etc £400
I dont insure (dogs have own bank account) but if I did it would be £1400 pa
total exc. ins = £5888.00
this does not include incidentals ie; new bowls leads treats etc.
If I had to make a rough guess at cost of leads bowls and incidentals, prob aroun £200
So added up, my dogs would have cost me in region of £7488.00 last year alone. Now I really wish I had not added this up, ignorance was truly Bliss :D
I would be scared to look as mine are fed human food. Barf diet was first but they werent to keen.wishing to avoid cans or dry food I opted for making my own cooked dog food fit for human consumption. Good quality meets cooked then mixed with raw everything else. seems to work
They basically get the same as us with extra items for a balanced diet and none of the bad stuff.
Took a while to sort it out but the coat is great and the dogs are fit and very healthy

Yikes Kay, I wouldn't even go there - knowing my luck some b***** would hit the reply button my post and my OH would see what it all adds up to :D Very worrying, especially 'coz he pays it but is blissfully unaware of most of it.
Still, could say - "well look at what it costs to keep Kay happy" ...... Teri :P

lol Teri, I have two passions in life, my dogs and spending money. Soooo, by combining the too, my life is complete :D .... see, I can multi-task :P

Four dals
Food: £360/year
Routine vet: £150-ish
Wormers: £70
That's about it, really; £580, say £600 for four = £150 each. Not bad, really.
Ooh, I forgot! I had to buy a new collar and lead this year, so that set me back about £15.
