My 9 month lab bitch has just been rushed to the vets and they are operating on her straight away. She has showed no signs of being unwell and has had no discharge until 10.30pm tonight, when she was violently sick and started shaking, we rang the vet straight away and took her, she is very ill and the vet has said to be prepared for losing her. She has been fine all day and has been running around the garden with the other dogs. It is the suddenness of this that is so upsetting, as she has shown no signs of being ill and has been eating really well. We were preparing to go to Blackpool tomorrow with her, now I'm just praying that she makes it through the night.

Just been to see her in the vets, she still looks very ill but the vet thinks she will be ok, they speyed her straight away and she is on a drip. They are keeping a close watch on her and a nurse stayed with her all last night. The vet said it was unusal for a bitch so young to get it, her first and only season was 6 weeks ago. Hpefully she will be home in a couple of days, we are lucky as the vets is only 4 houses away from us, so if anythig happens it is really quick to get help.

Thanks for al your concern. The vet was really worried about her this afternoon as her temperature went up and she did'nt seem to be recovering as well as he would have liked. Hopefully tomorrow things will look better for her. This morning she was awake and seemed quite bright but this afternoon she did not even lift her head or wag her tail when I went to see her. Every time the phone rings I think its the vet with bad news. The vet has increased the medication and it now depends on how much toxaemia(think thats what he said) has got into her system.

After a very worrying weekend, she eventually came home this morning, she is alot brighter and is now eating. We are keeping her caged at the moment because of the others, who are at this moment asleep as close to the cage as possible. I think they have missed her as she is the boss. The vet still wants to check up on her daily, but hopefully she is over the worst. Just waiting for the vets bill now, thankfully she is insured.:)
