Mine generally go the nearest weekend to 8 weeks. Never before 7½ weeks.

Same as JG here, no earlier than 7 1/2 weeks, i.e. weekend closest to 8 weeks.

Golly, this is the breeder that feeds Webbox to pups, isn't it?  Please think seriously.  All these things put together do not make a good picture.

Mine normally go to their new homes at around 7 1/2wks old, although with one of our girls that we bought we collected her at 6 1/2wks only because her breeder knew that she would be ok

I think it depends on how experienced you are as a dog owner and how early the pups have been weaned.

I have had one at 6 weeks, he was ready to leave, this was also the dog I have had the strongest bond with.

By choice I would rather have them early then late.

So many factors to consider.

If the pups are not getting satisfactory socialisation (perhaps your breeders lifestyle and yours differ vastly, say you live on a boat etc
) .
If the mother is sick of the pups and they spend more time with one another playing the fool and getting no education from adult dogs.
If they are a large robust breed.

(and many other reasons),

Then no, 6 weeks is not too early, its probably teh best age.

If the pups come from a small litter, a physically small breed, fantastically socialised, their education with older dogs and younger dogs and a vast range of people, then staying until a few weeks older can be better.

That said, around 8 weeks old pups suddenly discover 'fear' and taking home a pup who has just learned to be frightend of stuff is not the best way of doing things!
