I had to take my old boy 13 year old Scampi to the emergency vets last night, he was walking just like he was drunk then just fell over sideways, he was holding his head sideways as well.  After having blood tests etc it turns out he has had a mild stroke.  The vet has'nt given him any medications due to all his other troubles he has (diabetes, enlarged heart, fluid on his lungs).
Bless him, last night I think he felt he was ready to go to the bridge as he tried to take himself down the garden and start digging himself a hole to lay in, his brother did that as well when his time came. :-(

This morning he was back at the vets for a check up and he's doing pretty well considering.  Hopefully there wont be any lasting effects, but he may have another one who knows.  Today he's not ready to visit that bridge, thank goodness, he seems a lot happier in himself and even wants to go for a walk. :-)

Oh I am sorry to hear about Scampi, I hope he carries on feeling a bit better :)

It must have been very worrying for you.

Best wishes

I had that happen with an oldie of mine.  It did happen once again, but much milder.  She went on for a couple of years afterwards with no ill effects.

It gives you a fright, it is a shame she can't take the medication as it worked really quickly.

Take care
Sandra
