Dear All,
We have chosen a pup, he is beautiful, and we go and pick him up in 2 weeks. Anyway we went to see him again last night, and he has been to the vets and he is partly blind in one eye. The breeder said they are sorry to give us that news and can understand if we wanted to choose another boy. I said I don't think so, we love him just the same, if not more now. We have a deaf dally in the family, and he is very well trained, so a partly blind dog, is nothing to us, as we love them just as much.
I think some people think we are mad, but just because our little pup isn't "perfect!" doesn't mean he won't live the normal life, or won't be as beautiful.
Is there any books, or any info on the net I can read about a part blind dogs, and training??
Do you all think I am mad??
Thanks everyone

Ahh, well done. Dogs rely far less on their sight that we do, I'm sure no one will be able to tell that he has this "disability". I have owned a number of dogs with cataract (some old age, some not) Not a problem until they also go deaf as well, in old age. Then I have to stand (or rather move around,) waving my arms about - all the neighbours think I lost the plot years ago! Dogs see movement much better than picking you out among stationery objects, so if your dog does have a problem - keep moving around! Also need to watch your fingers when giving them biscuits etc - some aren't too accurate about distinguisihing the hands that feed them & the food in the hands!
