I've been looking at a range of breeds and i was wondering if you could buy little dogs like cockapoos and maltipoos in the east midlands or is it only in america.

                                          Thanks.

These are not breeds - they are crossbreeds or mongrals. Try your local rescue centre, or why not consider a well bred toy or miniature poodle.

This sort of exploitation of describing crossbreeds with fancy names and then giving them a fancy price certainly seems to have started in America but has spread to the UK.  Don't fall for it, have a look for a nice little cross breed in your local rescue rather that encourage more to be bred thus reducing the chances of one these poor unfortunately accidental mongrels failing to find a home because the lack of a 'poo at the end of their name and being put to sleep.  You will probably only need to give £100 or less in donation to the worthy cause of helping the next one be homed as well, rather that line the pockets of someone keeping toy breeds, or whatever other breed mix is trendy, in appalling conditions, bred season after season until their bodies give up to avail themselves of this sad market.

Go to your local rescue/dogs home and buy a dog there which may have the same cross or be of a similar look.  They will be a lot cheaper and they will state truthfully what they are "cross breeds".  Not that that's bad of course as many x make wonderful dogs.

Yep.

I know many people who have some fantastic crosses from rescues.

I know someone who has a foxador, i personally own a very nice model of (tri coloured non factory standard ears) germansprolliedog, not to mention an exotic salukhound (many miles on the clock and some damage to bodywork) and a germanstafhound (extra spec non shedding coat), and a whippington, or is that a bedlingpet (in a classy shade of grey, goes with everything, again extra spec 'giveaway naughty ears' and non shedding coat) as well!

My next door neighbour has a low wheelbase country finish (wipe clean in black only), germancolliedog and yet another neighbour as a staffador in a natty orange and black pinstripe.

There are plenty of these about, they are every single bit as good and in my not so humble opinion, quite a bit better than a 'poo' dog. Lesss importantly, the pricetag on your average run of the mill factory spec colliedor, or staffador, or germancolliedog is considerably less ridiculous.

In all seriousness, when you consider the vast quantity of dogs in rescue homes, crossbreeds and mongrels and pedigrees alike, its really quite silly and selfish to encourage people to breed crossbreeds that have no purpose.

Im not saying we ALL want a salukhound or a staffador, if we all did then we'd be boring. But get a proper pedigree dog, from a breed rescue or a responsible breeder, or get a rescue dog from a responsible rescue. DONT buy a fancy marketed sillynamed dog bred purely to rip the cash from your pocket and with no thought to the dogs welfare!
