
Do you know why they want to breed?
If they just like the idea of having a litter it's not a good reason to have one.
So many Beagles end up in rescue centres and go through Beagle Welfare every year, it makes me really sad.
I feel you shouldn't breed unless you have a good reason ( ie if you show your dogs and want to carry on your line ).
By having a litter they could potenially add the problem of many many Beagles that end up in rescue through no fault of there own.
As you said you know the person well and you can talk to them, maybe you have a chat to them and suggest if they want another puppy that having there own litter maybe not the best option. If they have never had a litter before, it is alot of hard work too.
I'm sure they will take your advice.
Without seeing how big the dog is compared to the bitch I couldn't advise but there are so many other issues aswell to consider.
