Hi! I've owned my dog from a 8 week old pup---he is now almost four years old> I love him to bits but sometimes--not very often---I really wish him further. Maybe because I'm tired or the present heat but I feel that I'm completely ruled by him & my life revolves around him. Do other dog- owners feel the same? This feeling only at most lasts a few days & I can't imagine my world without him!! Can you put your points of view & maybe discussions ! Thanks Lisa.

I think you should

Sorry you feel like that Lisa, i don't feel led by mine although i get the odd few days when i consider them my equal as much as nothing i do or they do is different.
Is it the responsibility you feel burdened to? or is he being over bearing demanding attention?
We havent had a holiday for years i dont resent them for that and its never crossed my mind accept for my daughter so we try to make trips away (dog free of course) to make her life a little more entertaining.
Perhaps you need a break? Dogs are much the same as kids (dependant!)we all need a break sometime theres no shame in wanting that.
You should try living in our house. My husband is always threatening to get rid of all the dogs. My friend offered to take my youngest dalmatian as she is still not getting on with my other one and he wouldnt even consider it. I think dogs are a bit like kids they drive you mad but ultimately you love them and wouldnt swap them. :)

Gosh yes, whenever my friend who bred my boy offers to have him back I'm tempted! But I wouldn't be without any of them no matter how much of a nuisance they can be. They're my family! :-)
It's the same here, my parents moan about the barking, the muddy footprints allover, the constant playing, racing round the garden etc etc etc but I know for a fact they would both be lost without dogs...they keep saying they won't have anymore..I don't believe them tho :D
I think with 3 largish dogs its hard not to be ruled by them in some shape or form, my mam gave up work so we could get our first puppy(Chloe), I work only part time so I can spend time training and showing my pup( Idõ), I drive a rather, erm, un-trendy car coz its practical for the dogs, but saying all of this I wouldn't have it any other way, a life without dogs would be pants to say the least and I can't wait to have my own place and oodles of dogs :D Bliss!
if my puppy bites my bum again, I would swap her for one with no teeth.... :)
It is hard going but I never felt any resentment at all to my previous dog, in fact it was the best 8 years of my life. This time round, although I love the puppy, I don't feel as attached to her yet and want to spend time on my own way from her, she is so exhausting. I get up at 6.30 every morning to let her in the garden, feed her, walk her and I come home every lunchtime to let her out and play with her where my husband does the evening shift. Do not want to go through the puppy stage again and can't wait for her to be older and calmer.
