Further to previous messages about puppy being sporadically sick - he was again this morning and threw up a conker! Should I be getting him checked out to see if there are any more garden objects in his small belly?
Hi yes you should , i know conkers are poisonous so please keep an eye on your dog regards debbie.

A conker! Where on earth did he get that from? It's not conker season. If he's swallowing stuff like that I'd certainly mention it to the vet - he may need an x-ray.

Could be that kids have knocked them off the trees early. They might be ripening a bit sooner too, our Hawthorns hedges have already got ripe berries on. :-)

Hi JG,
only yesterday I took a conker off my youngster - thought I was seeings things or that it had been stored in a kid's jacket for the past 6 months but sure enough there were about a dozen in varying stages of development (conkers that is, not kids :P ) lying around ....... spooooky
Poppy (6 month CKCS) had a poorly tummy yesterday and passed a pigeon wing feather! Next lot of poo was back to normal. I thank my lucky stars that she passed it long ways and it didn't get lodged across her tummy.

Hi Harry,
Glad Poppy is OK :) They do eat the strangest things as pups don't they  ;)
Regards, Teri
Its terrible what they eat, you have to keep such a close eye on them. Funny enough, I get conkers in my garden now (not sure why) but everytime I see one in or out its prickly shell, I have to throw over the back fence so she can't eat it. She loves eating the stuffing from her toys, always trying to get that out her mouth.
I am not sure I can go through this puppy stage again....
God I never realised they were posionous my lot eat them all the time from the tree at teh bottom of the garden.
