Hello! My name is Melissa. I found this site while searching for a name for my puppy. I currently have a mixed breed named Caine who is 12. I have a miniature pinshcer named Chief. Then there is my sweet rescued black lab named Cayce (also nicknamed Luna). Around January I will be getting a show puppy (labrador) and I am unsure about a name. Well, we did decide that if we go with a chocolate lab that we would name her Dove (as in a Dove ice cream bar). But we might get a yellow instead. It all depends on which is the better show quality. I like Dove for a yellow (because a Dove is actually white) but my husband only likes it for a chocolate. I love unusual and different names. The only names that I have come up with for a yellow are Maize, Cadence and Ayla. None of these really jump out at me as a great name. I would appreciate any input! If you have a great name or a great site for names please let me know. Thanks~!

My aunt had a yellow lab bitch and called her Candy, because she was sweet as candy.

Why not think about things to do with the sun i.e. Sunny (but I think that might be a more masculine name)
There's Ray (Sun-ray)

There's Bellance meaning blonde beauty. Briallen or Primrose (primroses are yellow)

Crunchie is a chocolate bar that has a honeycomb middle which is a golden yellow, so you could
use that for either a choc or a yellow lab.

Then again Honey is a good name.

But then a name the suits her temperament or character may be better :)

ORIANA.....
Possibly derived from Spanish oro "gold". In medieval legend Oriana was the daughter of a king of England who married the knight Amadis.
SAFFRON....
From the English word which refers either to a spice, the crocus flower from which it is harvested, or the yellow-orange colour of the spice. It ultimately derives from Arabic za'faran.
TOPAZ....
Means simply "topaz" from the English word for the yellow precious stone, the birthstone of November, ultimately derived from Greek .
XANTHE....
Derived from Greek  meaning "yellow" or "fair hair".
CALLA....
From the name of a type of lily. The name can also be derived from Greek meaning"beauty".

I too like unusual names ;)

RUBIA - Spanish name for blonde, but of course you have to roll the R ;)

CALLIA - Meaning beautiful, has French and Greek origins, also the name of my 8 month old "baby" :)

ELLA - Means "come here" in Greek, so not such a romantic name but nevertheless, a nice name, but then I'm bias and didn't realise what it meant in Greek until my Greek friend told me.

But Custard is yellow - rhubarb is a - well - pinky-greyish sort of colour & I've never seen a labrador that colour in the ring ....in the garden/dustbin etc yes..... :D

Just that Rhubarb and custard came to mind Margot :D As in the kids cartoon, when I was a wee one, never could remember which one was the cat or the dog  You can see the way my minds taking me tonight, or perhaps not :P

Psychedelic Labradors, mmm, now theres a thought :P On second thoughts, considering some individuals that surf this site, better not go there.
