WOW i met this stunning puppy today which i admit i thought he was a spaniel ! lol
After chatting to the owner she told me he was a Gordon Setter, she then brought her 3yr old out for me to meet, one word, stunning!!!!!! Im in love, i must find out more about these dogs, does anyone own one, what are they like to live with? Thanks in advance x

Hi i dont own a gordon setter,but a fella who lives near us has one and walks it near here it is a lovely dog i remeber it being quite lively when it was young but a gorgeous dog,can understand you liking them.

I don't own one either so not much use, but I too think they are one of the most beautiful breeds around!

Oh dear along comes another unsuspecting person who has been 'Gordoned'  :D I am completely biased where they are concerned. I have 3 beautiful girls, Maddie who is 2.5 years old plus her two daughters Ellie and Bronwyn who are both 18 weeks old. Gordons are not the easiest breed of dogs to own, as they can be quite a handful. They are a gentle, fun loving, very loyal, intelligent, sometimes stubborn dogs that want to spend every waking moment sitting by your side having a fuss. I have two kids and all the dogs love them to pieces. Most Gordons have a laid back nature and get on well with other dogs. They can be quite difficult to train, but once they learn something they don't easily forget it. They need to be treated with a firm but very kind hand. The only bad thing I have to say about Gordons is that they can quite easily knock a small child or an elderly person to the ground because they can be somewhat boisterous. Visitors to my house are quite often taken aback as Maddie especially won't let any visitors in unless she has given their ears a thorough clean. I have met many Gordons who also like to do this. As I said I am completely biased towards Gordons and will not hear a bad word said against them. I have Irish Setters as well and I love both breeds, but Gordons tend to sneak into your heart when you least expect it and once they are there it is impossible to remove them :D :D

I must admit to being 'Gordon-ed' today :D I went to visit a friend who has 4, though I only saw 2 today. Mind you, I was also welcomed by the other dogs (Munsters and a Cavalier ;) ) so came home very clean :D

I think Gordons are a lovely breed, but as Alli said, they are not for everyone. Guest, if you can why don't you go and meet a few adults before making your mind up on this gorgeous breed. You do need to see them fully grown.

I have 2 Cavs and a Yankee and my ears are always sparkling clean!!!! :-D

They are rather gorgeous.  One of my Elkhound owners breeds these as her main breed.  I think if more people looked at all the breeds available there would be no place for some of these catchily named crosses.  Some breees have very few new owners and barely enough breed enthusiasts to keep them viable.

i had one back in 90s he was a big cuddley bear,a gentle temperant,easy going male that lived with a fcr,he broke my heart when he die at 5 with cancer,and beacuse he was my 1st show dog which i did very well with, i cannot replace him,
he was a great family member love kids and other dogs,
the down side is their ear that get in the water and food bowl but you can buy bowl design that the ear fall over the side of the bowl when eating or you can put their ear up in a hair chuchy,coat alot of hard work to grooming out the seed this time of year and in the winter if their feet not trim mud and snow collection on them,need to be hand stripe the coat too,.
love to run free when older and again watch the excerise when young not to over do it like any puppy stage,

like any thing when you looking into buying one do your home work dont rush into it gordon setter are not for everyone
