Some of you know me some dont so to those who dont i am in labrador rescue. Not wanting to bore anyone with ins and outs of rescue but thought I would just do this post .
Over the years we have taken many many brood bitches too many to count which come from puppy farms/breeding establishments theyall have a story but this week we took in Cassie.
Cassie is 8 years old I have no idea how many puppys or litters she has had in her life ,she was brought to us I took her to our vet for a check up,coat is dead hardly any at all and her tail has no fur on at all,her eyes are infected her ears are infected so bad she must have been in great discomfort for a long time,a large lump on her which hasnt been treated and a flea allergy.when I was standing in the vets I got some very bad looks from people who didnt know that I was a rescue person.
So armed with malaseb, ear treatment eye treatment, worm treatment we came home.
Cassie is so lovely, gentle and kind she ducks when we raise a hand even to stroke her but is learning that she will not be hurt here,
she is 8 years old and has recently finished a litter and now she can begin to live, she will certainly be loved and cherished and the best of homes found for her.
Her lump grossly unsightly but (non malignant) will be removed when she is spayed and all this cost will be met by rescue and that is made possible by voluntary donations we receive for which we are very grateful.
There are so many dogs like cassie of all breeds who are used as breeding machines till of no further use, luckily some come to rescue and then begin their new lives, sadly some are destroyed and even shot by their owner.
I obviously cant put much detail on here as to her life.
whilst we cant do anything to stop puppy farming we can urge people to please,if you have read this and feel moved by cassie or any other discarded brood bitch then always if wanting a puppy go to a reputable breeder please dont buy through puppy outlets which are supplied by these puppy farmers.
I have always maintained that if people did not purchase these puppies they would soon go out of business. Unfortunately people feel sorry for those puppies in those tubs and crates and will continue to buy, When you realise that Harrods are selling puppies again. I truly thought they had stopped it, but alas they have not, so here is another customer.
The other people we need to get addressed are the go betweens the so called dealers , which if you think about it Harrods is one. Hope Cassie finds her forever home soon she deserves it Regards Meg
