Can anybody please explain to me why i'm having a total nightmare trying to locate decent breeders of westie pups with a litter about 4 weeks old?
we have been in touch with various breeders who have pups avalible saying we will register them if you want or we just breed to sell on or if you want one kc'd we will charge extra and you have to pay for first injection on top.

To be perfectly honest i'm getting really really fed up,all we are looking for is a decent well bred pup, that is kc reg,and the breeders are not just breeding for money.

Am i also within my rights to take a pup for a check up with my vet(when i register with one)even if the pup has already had one done by the breeder.
we are located in south wales and are looking at south wales area and west wales,
Hope you can help,
              thanks annie

Because good breeders don't breed a lot -they tend to breed mainly when they want something to keep back. :) Also good breeders usually have waiting lists as people know their pups are worth waiting for -even when it is for pets and not breeding or show.  The best (i.e. a well reared healthy pup of good temperament) is worth waiting for, you will have the pup for hopefully years to come. I waited 18 months for my last Golden Retriever and they're not exactly a rare breed -and travelled across the country for him. But it was worth it.

Forgot to say, yes by all means take the pup to the vet within the first 48 hours or so. That is very good practice indeed, and you will need to get him or her vaccinated anyway.

You're looking in the wrong place annie34!!!
There are well bred Westie pups out there, but good breeders will have a waiting list not available for the date you are wanting.  Maybe Blue can point you in the right direction when she comes along - be patient!! :)

sorry i think i gave you guys the wrong end of the stick,i mean't i was getting really fed up with the breeders who are just trying to sell them to anybody and don't care about the breeding or temperament or quality of the pups,i think you are right i am looking in the wrong places. We are prepared to wait for the right pup and breeder, who knows what they are breeding for,and also asks us some questions which nobody has done apart from one person yesterday but her pups were not registered.
