Am I getting mixed up?  Isn't this an illegal breed in this country?

I'm very sorry if I am, but I'm sure that they are illegal!!

Prohibited breed types are Pit Bull Terrier, Dogo Argentina, Fila Braiiliero, Japanese Tosa.

No not ilegal, but I would ahve thought the bitch a bit young to be bred from yet, though of course the owner should be already looking for the right dog to use next year.  As it isn't a breed recognised by teh UK Kennel club I woudl in the first instance want to check with their country of origin as to what health tests are advised, and hae these carried out ehr, registering with the actiivties regsiter to provide the dogs with a KC ID, and so the BVA KC schemnes can be use and the results published.

There may be a club formed for the breed with a view to seekign KC recognition, and they may run their own breed assessments/Rallies/Matches which should be attended in order to assess the bitches fitness for breeding and to locate a comaptible stud.

Please think very carefully about breeding from your bitch, shes not yet fully mature and WILL need hipscoring before hand. :)  Please register guest so I can give you a couple of links in regards to Cane Corso forums and breeders within the uk. :)

Thanks for that, knew that they were not a recognised breed over here and for some reason thought that they weren't going to be :d

Hello

We applied for recognition a couple of months back, but the kc unfortunatly will not allow us just yet :(

Mollmoo, you can email guest off forum with the links that you have mentioned :)

I notice that the breed club recommends that they are not bred from before 18 months of age.  I myself wouldn't breed a large dog until 2 years of age and as Mollymoo has said definitely not until they've had all their health tests.  Your girls just at the right age now to start the health tests, it's well worth it in the long run and you'll feel better for knowing that hopefully you have a fit and healthy dog.

This might be of some use to you when and if you decide to go ahead, once your bitch is older and has had all the relevant tests done.

Sorry, cant do links, you will have to cut and paste. :-)

What a great site that is, but such a shame to see so many rescues and their crosses.

I'm not having a go but re. HD, it says that pups can't be born with it, if this is so, how come a number of other breeds are seeing dogs in their first 4 months of life with it, surely they must have been born with it???

Can't you tell that I'm only just getting into this HD side of things :d

Please note the above is not regarding the Cane Corso's just a general observation.  In my belief if all breeds were hip scored they'd all be as bad as each other, with some excellent scores and some awful ones.
