Hi Lilly

I use an american check and short leather lead both from here:  http://www.accoladeleathercraft.com/httpsdocs/erol.html#324x0&& - it's a leather clip slip collar, you can buy material ones but they can break easily and the leather seem to sit better in my opinion :)  How old is your dog?

Oh and I have one of the roller leather leads - think mine is the 8mm one but you could have thinner esp if you have a bitch ;)

Hi

Ah how exciting for you.  Well first and foremost great breed to choose :D  they really are fantastic silly inteligent loving clumsy bears :)  You do have to be pretty firm with them and they can be stuburn but my advice really would be to get booked in to some puppy socialisation classes after all her jabs and continue with the ring craft too - don't over do it too much, just keep it short and sweet.  Where abouts are you by the way, do you have any ring craft classes near you that you know of?

Good luck and I would love to see some piccies when you get her ;)

Hi,

I am in Maidenhead, and I have booked into puppy party at the vets also puppy/ringcraft I think its just fun at first and as they develop they do more ring training, I think thats enough for a little one but will take her out and about as soon as jabs done, plus I have the others who will soon teach her whats what, ie how to lie, cheat ,steal all possible food stuff and some thats not and get away with it!! Labs you see !!!

I will send you some pics, I am going to visit a week Sunday so watch this space. I would love to see yours do you show? I have shown the labs at local shows, but this is my first serious attempt now my boys have grown up and one has left home its empty nest syndrome.

Hi
Not sure if this is too far away from you, but every other sunday the Rottwieler Association runs training, rigncraft and agility at Sandon in Hertforshire. We are taking Breeze there now and she loves it. Its a fun afternoon and it also knackers them out for the rest of the day. Its between 2 and 4pm (starts at 1 if its a nice day). We have been told that we should show as she has a beautiful face. Anyone want to see a piccie to see if they agree? She is 18 weeks today.

Puppy class is good, but doesn't last that long, mine only lasted 6 weeks.

I've seen her and can safely say she is a beauty :D :D - if not there will be a few in your area, certainly in the Berkshire area.  If you contact the kennel club they will send you a list - I have pm'd you re all this tho ;)

Hi Sarah,

Its a bit of a way, but I would be able to go a couple of times a month maybe, it sounds great. I would love to see pics of your rottie, I have pm'd you my e-mail.

Hi Lilly,

Good luck with the show training :)

I've found that different leads suit different temperaments/build to be honest - much also depends on the head/neck of your dog too.  If he/she has a "wet" head/neck, you want something that will tuck it up nicely, if not, a flat leather slip collar can do them more justice.  Some don't like the rolled collars and prefer a flatter one.

I always get my leads and collars from this place and they are excellent - www.saddlesense.co.uk

Kind Regards.

Ali.
