can i use the same stud with both my 2 bitchs ?they are both due with in a week of each other the stud dog owner says i can but i am not sure he might just be after my money because he want paying upfront they have been hip and eye test and are all fit dogs . is this 2 much for one dog or will he need to rest?

Unless your bitches are identical I'd be surprised if the same stud would suit them both.

Also why would you want two litters at the same time.  Thsi coudl cause all manner fo problems not to mention tons more work.  The bitches could fseriously fall out, and both sets of pups and Mums need to be kept completely seperated.

Why would you want to use the same dog on 2 bitches? Assuming you are a serious breeder who wants to improve the breed, you are cutting down your options for the next litter you breed. I have used the same dog twice - but not at the same time, I waited to see how the first litter turned out & was so pleased I used him on the first bitch's dam. Could have been that the 1st litter was disappointing, in which case I would have looked elsewhere (although in my breed we are so short of choice, I'd probably have had to knit myself one :D

I agree with Brainless it could major falling out.  My lot were lovely together until I did two consecutive litters.  It is twice the work and by the end of the time you are dead on your feet.  Do it with a gap in between.

I usually find that there is a period of adjustment within the family pack when a bitch has had a litter.  the bitch who has been on maternal duties feels she is entitled to higher staus, which of course the others may not agree with, and it can take a littel while for things to setle down again into the normla status quo.

It was after her second litter that my middle bitch made her bid, and succeeded in deposing her Grandmother for top canine.  it was a bloodless coup, and I insistyed on no bullying from the upstart, and the oldie was happy to step aside.

You do have to be very aware of the undertones when you are breeding from them.

At present my second youngest (new top girls daughter) has a litter and her mother grumbles at her, as if sensing that she neds to maintain her place from the up and coming daughter.  Fortunately daughter is very independant and wilful, but not actually interested in canine government only doing as she pleases.  She will need taking down a peg or two once the pups go as regards paying attention to the true boss, me :D

my bitch went to stud 24 hours after he had been at stud to a diffrent bitch, he was mated twice to that bitch and twice to mine 24 and 48 hours the first bitch and now my bitch it 6 weeks and all is looking well.  so i would say a dog could do it but i do agree that 2 litters at the same time would be hard work and maybe you should wait for the next season on 1 of them.  what would happen if they both whelped at the same time and you would have to keep them apart
