Hello everybody,i'm new but hope i can add to the forum's,we have owned staffies for quite a few years but currently don't own any dogs, hopefully that will change in the near future as we are looking to buy in a westie puppy.
Welcome, lizzie 10, hope you enjoy this site as much as I have. You will get a lot of good (and some not so good) advice here. But the careful readr can always find something either useful or interesting. Good luck with the new puppy search - wonder why the chnage though? Staffies are *very* well regarded on this site!
Best wishes, L
just fancied a change after keeping staffies for such along time,we grew up with them as children, bred and shown them,i love the breed and they are so good around children, but i also love westies never owned one but all our friends that own them said they are good to,so we have decided to have a westie pup,we have asked the children also what breed they would like and had all sorts thrown into the pot from german shepherds to yorkies!
Our eldest 14 years has got a thing for german shepherds he adores that breed, but to be honest we haven't got the room for a big dog.So we have our hearts set on a cute little westie pup, after much discussion.
I think it is important to involve all family members on such a big decision.

Hi Lizzie
I Couldn't agree more about getting the family involved with the decision, We have a six month old westie and my 2 daughters have got in to showing him and they love showing our Westie is such a big part of our family he's so loving but mischievous with it!! we certanly feel we made the right decision when we choose to go for a westie .

If your 2 daughters maintain their interest in dog showing through their "difficult" years, it will be an added bonus johnh!!! Mine did and we got through the teens with no problems at all because we were at dog shows most weekends!!

Brilliant!! I used to let mine make her own decisions in the junior handling classes but she had to do what I said in the breed classes!! She sometimes failed as a result of her bad decisions but succeeded when she made good ones. It was a good, safe training ground for life. Hope it works for you too.
