Hi, I work full time as a Legal Secretary, but would absolutely love a dog.  Trouble is there are not many part time jobs around.  What part time work does everyone do out there - being dog owners?  Just interested.  Many thanks.

I work full time as do a lot of dog owners. The important thing is planning.
I am lucky that I can take my dogs with me to work but also live 10 minutes from work so that I can go home and walk them at lunchtime.
I am also lucky that I have a great friend who lives two doors down who is always there on standby if I need them letting out.
I think the main thing is being realistic about whether you can fit your other commitments around a dog. I had to wait for years before I could have one because my previous job (cabin crew) was not suitable. Now I work mainly 9-5 and in one place
Dogs are a big commitment and you have to rule with your head not your heart whether one is suitable for you at this moment in time.

Sadly most part time jobs pay minimum wage :( IMHO the best theing to do if you want to go part time is to approach your current employer about part tiem or home based working.

Im quite lucky in that respect, I am also a legal secretary working 9 -5 but my boyfriend although he works full time works shifts so depending on which he is on he is either arriving home not long after Ive left or leaving for work not long before i come home so at the VERY VERY most my dog is alone for four hours, plus I only live 15 mins away so i can nip home on my lunch hour.
