Found this on another site.
How can people lie about things such as a pedigree puppy, just because they have created a crossbreed.
Beautiful PEDIGREE shihpoos only just born, mother shih tzu dad chocolate toy poodle. picture of a previous litter (obviously there was a picture)
And they are asking £450 for them (all 7)
Makes me mad to see Pedigree Shihpoo's, theres nothing pedigree about them. Well apart from perhaps the shih tzu and poodle are both pedigrees, doesn't make a cross breed a pedigree.
My MIL went to a car boot yesterday, and she said there was a bloke sat on the floor with a basket infront of him, with 7, 7 week old Staffy X Spaniels. She said he said he didn't want any money for them he just wanted rid!!! :( :( :(

Those poor puppies. I really believe that no living creature should be given away. Even a charge of a few pounds makes people stop and think. It makes me mad but someone I know who 'got' a puppy six months ago after the death of her husband is now thinking of 'getting rid' (her words) because she's moving house. When will people realise that a dog (or any pet come to that) is for life, not just for when it suit their needs.
We were at Nat Gundog on Saturday and there was a sign beside the road with an advert for Springer pups(didn't say which kind tho

) then in another village there was another sign for pups, both said 'ready now' :(
Its like driving past and seeing a sign for a plant sale....but who cares if you don't look after a plant...but a puppy is a living, breathing, feeling animal that could live for 15 years, it makes me mad.
>a few pounds makes people stop and think
This is so true, my MIL is an experienced dog owner, but she has never had a pedigree dog from a decent breeder, most of her dogs have either been strays that have latched on, or from rescue centres, so she didn't really see the harm in these poor pups being given to anyone who walked past. She said she was very close to getting one herself, her words were "if he had have given me one just to hold, I wouldn't have been able to put it down, but because I said I wasn't sure, the man said to go and have a think and come back later if she wants one, but to be quick because they will go soon!" She luckily decided she didn't want to be putting up with all of house training and what not, so she didn't go back!
Of course after I had finished huffing and puffing at her, she could see why these pups should have been no where near the car boot, apart from anything else, they wouldn't have had any innoculations and so were open to catching anything. I know that some people believe that the risk of catching an illness is less than what an undersocialised dog can grow to be, and so take their pup's out to known places that they feel are safe (or are as safe as they can be), but my guess is, none of this even crossed this blokes mind when he turned up at a car boot with puppies to 'get rid of'
I think I would have took one of the pups just to stop someone less able from taking it. I know you cant save all the ill treated puppies in the world but I think I would have given one a chance rather than them go to a family that think "get one cos pups are cute".
But I wouldnt have been nice to the man while I took one, he would have got a good telling!!!
I understand what you are saying, but then we get into the debate of, 'saving' a pup just means another will be bred in its place. It is a very hard situation to be put into. I even thought about going and 'just having a look' but I knew I wouldn't have been able to walk away with out one!!!
Yeah I do try and avoid putting myself in the situation. The man wasnt asking for money so he wasnt breeding for money, maybe it was just an accident which shouldnt have happened. During my "telling" him I would have said to get one of the dogs spayed to stop it happening again. I would have probably got a gob full back.
I suppose it is one of those things where someone (or worse, the pup) will always loose out.
I cant understand why someone would breed a litter of pups and go to the trouble of rearing them and loving them and then just give them away like that it doesnt make sense!
Probably a mistake/unplanned pregnancy and what else can he do but look after the pups and his dog until he can get homes for the pups.
I would guess that it is one of two options, they either really did want 'rid' quick, hence no price, or they felt that if they gave them away they would go to 'good' homes that can't afford a pup, or at least the good few hundred pounds for the pup itself. I got the feeling it was the first option from what my MIL said though :(
TBH, the cost on occasion doesn't come into, we have had a dog that latched on from next door, we never paid for the dog itself, but obviously over time we ended up paying for food and toys and everything else, and my MIL is the same, so it doesn't always follow suit that just because someone has paid a few or a lot of pounds for a pup/dog, that they are the best owners. But I do know what you mean, even if breeders don't do health checks, they still have to pay for food, and give the bitch the medical attention she needs, and obviously spend some time with the pups, even if it is just to wean and clear up after them. So some effort, though obviously not enough, has gone into the pups, so to just give them away at the end of all that doesn't make any sense. But this is the world we live in today, and I would think that in someways, dog wise, it is a better world than even 50 years ago, there have been so many advances in the mediacal world that we can now help to erradicate genetic problems, by doing health tests etc. So I suppose we have to weigh up the pro's and con's.
True Natalie, I have a friend who paid alot of money for a pedigree because it was a cute puppy chiuhauha, it soon got neglected and I took it from her and rehomed it at the age of 2, it wasnt house trained and was agressive after being teased for 2 years by 5 children.
People with money to waste will pay alot for a dog and still neglect it as the money means nothing, where as someone without a lot of money that gets a dog for nothing could show it more affection they just couldnt afford a pedigree.
This is what I mean, I can see both sides of the coin, one is, if they haven't paid for the pup, then they may think the pup isn't worth anything to them, but then the other side, makes a good loving permanent home available to a pup which could have ended up in a bag at the bottom of the nearest river/canel, or anything.
Honestly wouldn't the world be better with out us humans? :D
Defo!! humans are not a nice species.

I would of taken all of the pups and found homes myself or take them to the Rspca . Better to find loving homes then go somewhere bad .
