Help ! Can anyone suggest something for my 9 year old collie. He was fine yesterday and then today he has diahorrea ( becoming water like ) with blood ( maybe 1-2 spoons )
He has no other symptoms for he moment. Poor thing.
If it continues I will get him to the vets but just wanted to know if I should be really worried ??!!

Thanks in advance everyone.

Don't attempt to feed him and make sure he has plenty of fluids.

Sudden onset of bloody stools - particularly blood in the quantity you describe sounds as though you'd be better to at least give your emergency vet a phone just now and see if they recommend bringing him in.  Hopefully it will be something quite simple but equally it's better to act sooner rather than later as the symptoms are so sudden and sound quite severe.

Good luck and please post back how things go.  Teri

Hello everyone,

Yes Bruno is getting better. His poops are still very soft but thats better than the watery, bloody ones he had yesterday.

We are now suspecting that maybe some of our neices and nephews fed him spicey sausages and maybe even chicken bones on Saturday !

We had a bbq and stated not to feed the dog anything, but children are children and poor Bruno is paying the price !

If there is no further improvement by tomorrow I will take him to the vets. Today he is happily drinking his water and playing as usual

Thanks for all your help.

I doubt if spicey sausages would have made his poo bloody,  Even if you think it might have been the chicken bones then that suggests a tear inside but again I doubt that too. please do as Teri says and take him to the vets. Let us know what he says, hope all is well and glad to hear he is happy in himself :)
