I have Dogs Today on subscription. I have always seen the dog papers to be showing orientated - not that I mind that - its just that I am a pet owner not a breeder or shower.
When I was showing I used to buy Dog World. When I stopped I flirted briefly with Dogs Today and Your Dog. Of those two monthly magazines, Dogs Today seems aimed at people who'd rather own cats (because dogs do nasty things like bark and chase cats), and Your Dog accepted that dogs did such nasty things but 'we try not to let it get us down'.
Dogs Today and Dogs Monthly, not eveyr month though (too poor)...
Interesting that you found dogs today like that, ive always found it to be the other way round really, often willing to take on riskier subjects (such as questioning the RSPCA, raw feeding, homeopathic vets etc).
They do take on 'riskier' subjects but then the articles about them are all one-sided!! If they don't agree with something, then it's wrong - there is no for and against to let Joe Public decide for themselves. Thats the only thing that annoys me about that mag - oh, and that ghastly Emma Milne vet off the tv ;-)
I know, i really CANT stand Emma Milne at all..... that def puts me off Dogs Today.
However on the plus side, i love Terry Doe's articles, and he also really helped me when i was very depressed, gave me his number, chatted about writing, about depression and all sorts and was basically very supportive, so Yay for him! Top Guy!
*shuts up now incase his wife thinks im stalking him*
