Hi Charlotte

from this and other posts you seem to be overly concerned about endorsements and the breeder lifting them if and when you want to breed. This is rather putting the cart before the horse, as a lot of criteria need to be met before you even think about breeding, especially as the pup you are thinking of breeding from has yet to be born am I correct?

Personally I wouldn't buy from a breeder who didn't endorse, it's a sign that they care about their breed and what happens to their pups.

I would agree with that Husky.  Breeders who don't endorse quite often don't care how their dogs are used afterwards.  Selling pedigree pups to ill prepared novice breeders is asking for disaster.

That came out not quite right.

I wasnt calling you a novice breeder Charlotte. It is a generalisation and something very close to my heart as I am trying to help some one in a difficult situation now who didnt know you sould'nt try to breed a dog on her first season, no endorsments or help forthcomming from her breeder.

Our breeder put endorsements on our rottie, not that it bothers me, it showed us that she cared.

Most breeders in my breed do, and increasingly it would seem that good breeders will do this in an effort to ensure that their lines and dogs are not exploited and that if they are to be bred from that all the health tests are carried out, the individual is of breeding standard, and the owners cognisant of their lifelong responsibility for any pups produced by them.

Hi guys,
I am not overly concerned about endorsments was just curious  because alot of breeders are placing them which i think is a good thing, but you will always have people who will breed regardless of this and you will always have people who will buy these pups.

Yes, there will be those people, but that is exactly why we urge people not to buy puppies that arent KC registered - at least then it is clear that the puppy wasnt bred against the wishes of the person who bred its mother.

Yes and I don't know anyone who doesn't endorse.

mine are endorsed and I make this clear to people if I decide they are suitable owners and I also put it in the contract

I've even got to lift the endorsements on our own two, if (vb IF) and when we decide to breed from them!

How do you endorse puppies?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 16.08.05 15:02 UTC
When you register the litter there's a box in which you put R and X if you want to put the endorsements on.

You've spoilt the fun!!!  I was going to tell her that you rubberstamped their backsides :D :D :D

ROFL! :D

Is that why so many people are trying to get the endorsemsnts lifted, claiming they didn't know about them? The rubber stamps had either worn off, or were hidden under the long hair? :D ;)
